Today, Varrow announced their strategic support for Cisco’s Nexus 1000v datacenter platform integrated into VMware’s vSphere. The Nexus platform will help Varrow take clients to the next level of I/O performance, manageability, and consolidation. While virtualization is commonplace in most customer data centers, there have been concerns with the virtualization of some applications due to network manageability and enforcement of existing network security policies. The Cisco Nexus 1000v will provide clients with a consistent virtual switching platform across the Virtual Infrastructure in the datacenter and supports the management interfaces and security policies of the hardware-based Cisco network switching platform.
The Cisco Nexus 1000v is an integral piece in the overall Nexus portfolio of datacenter technologies. The Cisco Nexus suite of products is designed for high speed connectivity and provides a unified fabric for both data and storage networks. By unifying the data network and storage network infrastructure, customers can reduce hardware requirements, management overhead, and complexity. Nexus switches can leverage the existing Fibre Channel and Ethernet infrastructure while providing a progression path for the future.
The Cisco Nexus 1000v virtual switch is an integrated software switch option available for the newly announced VMware vSphere virtualization platform. This integration gives organizations visibility, control, and management of the networking layer in their virtual infrastructure. The same knowledge, policies, and processes they use today to manage their existing Cisco physical infrastructure can now extend to their VMware environment.
Varrow focuses on advising clients on how to increase performance and reliability in their datacenter environment while at the same time reduce complexity and ease management. Organizations that transition to this new approach are no longer required to manage different fabrics for data and storage. They can also extend the visibility and policies of their existing Cisco infrastructure into their virtual environment, instead of managing disparate systems.
“We find that organizations are enjoying the benefits of virtualization such as reduced provisioning times, cost-effective disaster recovery and better hardware utilization. At the same time many clients have had to forgo certain applications due to concerns over integration within their existing environment,” said Jason Nash, Sr. Solutions Architect for Varrow. “The Nexus platform alleviates these issues and provides the consistency that clients need for their network and storage connectivity”.
Varrow provides sophisticated and focused IT solutions in the practice areas of Virtualization, Storage and Disaster Recovery. Their main focus partners are VMware, EMC, Cisco and Citrix.
