Opalis Software Inc., the market leader in IT process automation, today announced their Cloud Lifecycle Management (LCM) solution. The Opalis solution addresses one of the major concerns of Amazon Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2): lack of knowledge about when to turn off cloud resources. With the Opalis LCM solution, Amazon Web Service (AWS) users can now align resource requirements to meet business needs, while managing the cost associated with cloud services.
Manage the cloud from the cloud
Together, Opalis and Amazon EC2 deliver a seamless way for users to embrace and manage cloud computing resources. Using the self service portal, delivered in the Opalis Cloud LCM Solution, users can request and manage services from the cloud infrastructure for complete usage and cost control.
The Opalis Cloud LCM Solution for Amazon EC2 delivers:
- Dynamic Cloud Services – consume and release cloud resources based on user-defined thresholds (time, cost, event)
- Self service portal – web-based request system to provision Amazon EC2 resources, complete with the time based management to control consumption and cost
- Integrated approval process – enforce approval prior to provisioning to ensure audit and control
- Notification – email alerts inform the requestor when the cloud resource life expectancy is about to expire. The requestor can extend the lifetime of the instance or let it expire
- Billing termination – Manages metering of services during the decommissioning process to ensure usage needs are tightly coupled with cost containment
- Integrated reporting – Generates reports to determine usage for auditabillity and chargeback
“Using the Opalis LCM solution, customers can manage availability, provisioning, consumption and decommissioning of cloud resources across private and public cloud environments to ensure that the billing meter stops running when the cloud resource is no longer needed” said Yale Tankus, SVP Marketing and Business Development, Opalis Software, Inc.
The Opalis Cloud LCM solution is part of a comprehensive IT automation strategy for cloud computing announced in March Opalis v6 Cloud Press Release. With this strategy, customers can manage application deployment and configuration across physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures, automating the processes to eliminate complexity and controlling their real-time infrastructure.
The Cloud LCM Solution Beta release will be available initially for free as a service offering and accessible via Amazon in June. For more information about the beta program, cloud service capabilities or pricing email cloud@opalis.com.
