Manage Your VMware, Hyper-V or XenServer Environment While on the Go! Beta Test Hyper9 VMM

As a virtualization administrator, have you ever been out at a tradeshow, or in a movie theater after hours or on weekends, or even worst, on vacation with your wife and kids and someone from the office calls you to check on a host server or find out why a virtual machine went down?  Or how about this one, they ask you to cycle the power on a virtual machine for them.  After all, you're only 500 miles away from the datacenter, sitting on the beach and enjoying the sun with your family, but hey, why not?  Right?

That kind of stuff never happens to any of us, does it?  Our wives certainly know this to be true, for sure!

To help, Hyper9 is launching a new product that is currently in Beta.  It is called Hyper9 Virtualization Mobile Manager (VMM).  Developed by virtualization infrastructure expert and VMware plug-in pioneer Andrew Kutz, VMM enables remote network control, extended scalability and multi-platform support, all from within a mobile display designed for optimal efficiency.

Some of the product's highlights include:

  • Support for all major hypervisor platforms, including VMware Server 2, VMware VI3.5, VMware ESXi 3.5, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer 5.  Imagine being able to support all three major platforms on a single heterogeneous interface -- and that interface being mobile!
  • Monitor host and virtual machine performance statistics (CPU and Memory)
  • Control virtual machines with a Start, Stop, Pause, Reset, or Disable Network
  • It installs on an Apache Tomcat Web server and runs on Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X.  Quite a few choices.
  • And of course, being a mobile platform, it works with a host of mobile devices such as the Apple iPhone, Blackberry, Google Android, or Windows Mobile devices.

  • VMM also supports both a Full and Lite mode, so if your mobile device isn't optimized to handle the Full mode, it can drop down and provide a Lite mode, still giving you the capabilities and mobility that you need.

The VMM Beta is open to the public.  Register on the Hyper9 Community, and you can download the Beta today!

I also have 15 special invitations that I can give out to folks if you are interested.  If you are registered on the site, simply reply to this message as a comment stating you want one of them.  Or, you can also use the VMBlog.com contact form to send me a message stating you would like to receive one of these Hyper9 VMM invitations.  First come, first served.

This invitation will get you:

  • Access into the Beta program (download the software, use the VMM support forum, membership into the Hyper9 community)
  • Automatic entry into a Win a Mobile Device contest beginning in June
  • Provide additional feedback to Hyper9 for a limited edition Hyper9 Alien T-Shirt
  • And if you choose to purchase the product after the Beta period, you will get a 50% off discount on the price.

Come on, who doesn't want to manage their virtualization environment from their mobile device?  Give it a shot, let them know what you think.  Find out more information about the Beta program and VMM on Hyper9's community site.
