NetIQ Corporation (Interop Booth #1119) today announced availability of NetIQ®
AppManager® for VMware 7.6. This latest iteration of NetIQ's
virtualization management technology extends support to VMware vSphere 4, the industry's first cloud operating system that enables organizations to transform their datacenters into internal and external clouds. Additionally, NetIQ AppManager for VMware 7.6 supports more than three times the number of virtual machines than that of previous releases so that VMware administrators can aggressively pursue greater ratios of guests to hosts, realize greater return on IT investments and improve responsiveness to business needs.
NetIQ is among the first management providers to support VMware vSphere 4 adopters as they upgrade to this cloud computing foundation. By leveraging NetIQ management capabilities, VMware vSphere 4 users will have the freedom to leverage their applications, operating systems or hardware within a single IT infrastructure. Not only does this enable IT to dynamically increase capacity, but it improves internal allocation of IT resources and collaboration, helping to dramatically reduce operating costs and maximize enterprise productivity.
NetIQ AppManager for VMware 7.6 monitors and reports on the performance and overall health of vCenter 2.5, VMware ESX 3.0.x and 3.5, VMware ESXi 3.5 and now VMware vSphere 4.0 (including ESX and ESXi 4.0 and vCenter Server 4.0). By monitoring and correlating alerts across hybrid infrastructure, as well as the OS and applications, administrators can more rapidly diagnose issues and speed remediation.
As enterprises ultimately adopt VMware vSphere 4, NetIQ will immediately deliver:
-- Event prioritization by correlating system, application and VMware infrastructure events with end-user experience metrics so that administrators can prioritize response efforts for service impacting events.
-- Performance reporting of business applications, services, and the VMware infrastructure to demonstrate satisfactory application service levels to support a rapid adoption of VMware.
-- Automated management through IT Process Automation, supporting not only the event management process, but also various VMware-related tasks including load balancing between resource pools, controlling access to the VMware consoles and more to provide consistency and eliminate human error.
"The trends we are seeing within our customer base indicate that many VMware adopters are ready to push the limits of their infrastructure to achieve the cost benefits that virtualization technology provides," commented Criss Scruggs, senior product marketing manager at NetIQ. "However, to do that successfully, you need the right management tools to support the hybrid physical-virtual environment. As NetIQ customers adopt VMware vSphere 4, they can scale their AppManager deployments to meet the demands of the entire virtualized stack -- both the physical and virtual components -- to truly maximize the cost, IT efficiency and enterprise productivity benefits it promises."
