CBTS, an enterprise provider of data center and managed services, has joined the Vblock partner ecosystem, a community of members that are qualified to augment, resell, and deliver Vblock™ Infrastructure Packages. These packages are an element of the recently announced Virtual Computing Environment coalition formed by Cisco and EMC, together with VMware. Now CBTS can help customers accelerate their plans to implement a private cloud infrastructure based on industry-leading technology and take advantage of the critical IT efficiencies this provides.
Vblock Infrastructure Packages are integrated, tested and validated data center infrastructure offerings that combine best-of-breed virtualization software from VMware, unified networking, security, and computing from Cisco, and storage, security and management technologies from EMC – all with end-to-end vendor accountability. Vblock Infrastructure Packages support a broad range of operating systems and applications that enable customers to rapidly migrate existing applications to Vblock infrastructure to accelerate broad-scale data center virtualization.
"CBTS entered the virtualized cloud environment with our acquisition of Virtual Blocks in January of 2009. We knew that Virtual Blocks’ Virtual Data Center software product would allow us to support our customers in a manner in which they would be deploying technology. The Virtual Computing Environment coalition allows us to complete the offering for our customers. Our Tier 3 Data Center facilities and network infrastructure allow us to be uniquely positioned in the marketplace,” said John Burns, President of CBTS.
CBTS qualifies for the Vblock partner ecosystem through its investment in technical certifications and partner designations for all of the Cisco, EMC and VMware products that comprise the Vblock Infrastructure Packages.
The Vblock Infrastructure Packages were developed by the Virtual Computing Environment coalition, which was formed jointly by Cisco and EMC, together with VMware. The coalition represents an unprecedented level of collaboration across development, services and partner enablement that helps minimize the risks in the infrastructure virtualization journey of customers to private cloud implementation. CBTS shares the Virtual Computing Environment coalition’s vision for the future of the virtual data center. “We firmly believe the advances in today’s technology coupled with the growing trends of future development are tearing down the walls of separation between the three major pillars of Information Technology,” said Stuart Levinsky, Vice President of Product Development for CBTS. “Those pillars are Network, Storage, and Compute; and as these once separate stacks have merged into one, the data center and the service level of the application itself has been elevated to greater importance. With Cisco’s Unified Computing System, the network and virtualized compute environment are now being consolidated into a single package that CBTS is uniquely positioned to service.”
