Centrix Software Announces General Availability of WorkSpace Discovery
Centrix Software, a provider of solutions that optimize the way IT infrastructures deliver applications, services and content, today announced the general availability of its free Centrix WorkSpace Discovery product. WorkSpace Discovery provides organizations with a simple way to audit their enterprise desktop environments. Using the tool, they can identify applications that are installed across devices, see how they are being used and whether they are good candidates for virtualization.

“Desktop virtualization can deliver significant benefits to organizations around desktop management. However, building the business case for investment has been more difficult than server virtualization. WorkSpace Discovery solves this problem, giving organizations a complete picture of what is installed on their end-user machines, but more importantly, how applications are being used. With this critical data, desktop virtualization projects can be scoped to meet the requirements of all an organization’s end-users, driving faster adoption and more successful implementations,” said Lisa Hammond, CEO at Centrix Software.

WorkSpace Discovery also identifies any non-authorized applications that are installed, as well as applications and services that are not being used. Based on these reports, organizations can optimize environments before virtualizing and create opportunities for cost savings through rationalizing unused application licenses.

Dave Bartoletti, Senior Analyst and Consultant at the Taneja Group, commented, “For any desktop virtualization project to be successful, you have to have the intelligence, both from an IT perspective and a business perspective, to understand what is happening within your estate. This intelligence involves knowing what applications are deployed, how your users are utilizing them and what are the associated costs of moving these applications to the new environment. Centrix WorkSpace Discovery is a very powerful tool that provides this intelligence and much more. As a free tool, the Taneja Group believes WorkSpace Discovery will take the market by storm.”

Part of the overall Centrix WorkSpace Suite, Centrix WorkSpace Discovery is available for customers and partners as a free download from The WorkSpace Discovery target agent can be installed on any machine running the following Microsoft operating systems:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows XP

WorkSpace iQ is priced at $145 per user and the Centrix WorkSpace Suite is priced at $290 per user. For more information please visit
