GridApp Clarity 6.5 Makes Self-Service IT a Reality

GridApp Systems, Inc., a leading provider of out-of-the-box database automation software and solutions, today introduced the latest version of its flagship database automation software, GridApp Clarity 6.5. Simple, self-service IT is at the heart of this latest release as Clarity’s fine-grained permissioning and delegated administration by line of business empower application owners to access and manage application resources without the need to engage specialized IT professionals, such as database administrators.

Virtualization and private cloud initiatives promise to make IT more flexible and efficient, with automation as the key ingredient for real-world success. Unfortunately, today’s complex applications, such as databases, often prevent the realization of this vision. Enterprises are looking for tools to bring self-service to infrastructure and application management to drive efficiency, repeatability and accountability.

“Most solutions still handle the deploying, patching and configuration of end applications through ad-hoc scripts that must be created and maintained. For complex applications, like databases, this is simply not practical and rarely works,” said Rob Gardos, CEO of GridApp. “Clarity uses an automated, model-driven approach to the rapid deployment of standards-based databases as well as data movement and migration for private cloud environments.”

GridApp Clarity's out-of-the box automation content is comprehensive, dynamic, and elegant, with vendor best practices built-in, and a library of intelligence for handling misconfigurations and errors. Business units can focus on defining their particular standard, and the self-service solution, powered by Clarity, has the know-how to successfully execute on the user request. What used to take days or weeks, can now happen in minutes and does not require an IT specialist.

Clarity 6.5 enables clients to automatically pinpoint which databases require patching, analyze patch dependencies, and monitor them to ensure that patches are properly installed. Sophisticated patch conflict detection proactively identifies potential issues before they become problems.

In addition, the new version of Clarity has an enhanced API to enable seamless integration with systems management, DCA, configuration management and monitoring solutions, such as HP and BMC Software automation products. It also includes an updated reporting engine, allowing advanced insight into IT operations to allow detailed tracking of IT operations by department, productivity, as well as enhanced custom reporting.
