Attachmate Reflection 2011 to Offer Native Support for Microsoft App-V
Attachmate Corporation today announced its next-generation terminal emulation software Reflection 2011 will soon be available for native deployment within Microsoft's application virtualization (App-V) environment. Additionally, Attachmate has joined Microsoft's System Center Alliance Program. Attachmate is the first software vendor to offer native support for Microsoft App-V, enabling IT administrators to quickly and easily leverage Reflection 2011 in application deployments through App-V, eliminating compatibility issues for enterprises at the user desktop.

While the current economic climate continues to challenge organizations to do more with less and leverage existing IT resources, companies are facing increased demand for remote access to mission-critical enterprise applications. Reflection 2011 enables enterprises to meet these demands by offering advanced terminal emulation technology, which can be deployed across a variety of virtualized environments. Based on the customer demand for App-V support, Attachmate is making Reflection 2011 available in the App-V format to its customers without repackaging.

Northern Trust, a leading investment management company based in Chicago, has recently been testing Reflection 2008 in an App-V environment to address application incompatibility issues. Catherine Casacchia, manager of document management infrastructure at Northern Trust, says, "We plan to leverage Microsoft's App-V solution in the future and are happy to see Attachmate will be supporting this strategic platform as we move in this direction."

"Microsoft's App-V technology allows enterprise applications to be deployed in real time, to any Windows client and is becoming a 'must-have' for organizations," said Karri Alexion-Tiernan, director of product management at Microsoft Corp. "We're thrilled that Attachmate, a long-time and well-respected partner, is joining us in making Microsoft App-V the standard in application virtualization by becoming the first vendor to offer native support for our solution."

More and more organizations are looking to migrate to the Windows 7 platform while simultaneously deploying the latest virtualization technologies. Reflection 2011 is the most advanced Windows-based terminal emulator on the market, built on .NET and with a Windows 7 look and feel. With support for the leading application solutions such as App-V and desktop virtualization platforms, Reflection 2011 can be deployed via server or client-based virtualization technologies, maximizing IT flexibility and eliminating incompatibilities with other operating systems and applications.

"Attachmate remains committed to offering our customers the most advanced terminal emulation technology that can be seamlessly deployed with the latest virtualization technologies," said Kris Lall, product marketing manager for Attachmate. "Reflection 2011 is extremely well suited to work with App-V and enables us to save our customers significant time and resources by giving them centralized control over desktop applications across the enterprise no matter what operating system they're using."
