Wyse Introduces New Mobile App for Android; Securely Fusing Cloud Computing, Desktop Virtualization and Mobile Internet for the Enterprise

Wyse Technology, the inventor and global leader in cloud client computing, today announced the public beta of its Wyse PocketCloud application for the Android operating system. Wyse PocketCloud Beta is available immediately at the Android Market as a free download.

Wyse PocketCloud is one of the most popular mobile remote desktop applications that allow end users to access Windows PCs, Remote Desktop Services and virtualized desktop infrastructures based on the Microsoft RDP protocol. It’s the only client that is VMware Ready™ Certified for VMware View™ available for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Wyse PocketCloud integrates seamlessly into an already-established VMware View host environment, included integrated enterprise-level security, and does not require any special setup or software installed.

Wyse PocketCloud was originally released for the iPhone in August 2009 and has been one of the Top 10 Business Applications on Apple’s App Store. Wyse PocketCloud enables users to remotely run their PC desktop or virtual desktop from a large variety of hosts, including VMware View, Microsoft Windows 7 Pro, Enterprise & Ultimate, Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista Business and Remote Desktop Services in all Windows Server products.

"I've been using Wyse PocketCloud with my Motorola Droid and couldn’t be more satisfied," according to Wesley Baker, Virtualization Architect with Jewelry Television. "Like many of us in the IT industry, I'm on call almost all the time. Having Wyse PocketCloud on my phone means that I don't have to carry around a heavy laptop or scramble to find a hot spot. Wyse PocketCloud makes remote access very simple and ties into our VMware View™ implementation perfectly."

"Today's professionals are already on call 24/7, so it's gratifying to hear from so many Wyse PocketCloud users how their jobs are made easier and more convenient with our app," according to Daniel Barreto, Chief Software Architect at Wyse. "Wyse PocketCloud is becoming an essential tool for the modern-day professional. We are now extending the unique capabilities of Wyse PocketCloud in light of the explosive growth in Android-based mobile platforms."
