Cloud Computing for the Mainframe: Cloud Compiling to Unveil Virtualized Language Compilers for z/OS at SHARE

Cloud Compiling announced today that it will unveil its family of virtualized COBOL, PL/1, Fortran and C/C++ compilers for z/OS at the upcoming SHARE technology conference, taking place from August 1-5, 2010 in Boston, MA.

Cloud Compiling's chief development officer Charles Mills, an expert in mainframe product development, will lead a technology session on cloud compiling for the mainframe.

“We believe we are the first company to bring a true cloud computing solution to z/OS,” said Budd Rutter, founder of Cloud Compiling. “Whether installed in a private cloud or externally hosted with Cloud Compiling SaaS, our customers recognize all of the benefits of cloud computing – significant cost savings, greater systems controls, increased flexibility, and the ability to scale quickly.”

Cloud Compiling is easy to install, because there is no migration, no IPL’s, authorized libraries, supervisor calls, z/OS parmlib changes and no changes to existing JCL. “We installed the Cloud Compiling technology in just a few hours. We’re still using the same compilers we’ve always used. The only change is, we save $100,000 a year. It was like magic,” said the Manager of MVS Systems at a Fortune 100 company.

Cloud Compiling has been in production at F1000 companies for several years, and with today’s announcement, is generally available for most versions of COBOL, PL/1, Fortran and C/C++. Play Video.
