VMware Fusion Gets Updated to 3.1.1 with Important Mac Fixes
VMware has pushed out an update for its virtual machine software for Intel-based Macs.

Version 3.1.1 includes:
  • Improvements to iSight Camera access
  • Fixes an issue where an incorrect disk error message appears after a host crash occurs while working in a virtual machine
  • Fixes audio recording issues when the device output was not 44.1 kHz

But perhaps the most important, or at least the most interesting new feature is the addition of VMware vSphere ESX 4.1 added as an officially supported guest operating system.  Running ESX as a guest eliminates the need to have spare hardware available to run ESX natively and enables ESX to run on systems that are not listed on the ESX hardware compatibility list (HCL).

The update is free for all VMware Fusion 3 users, and the update notice should appear when you launch the app.  This is the 4th update to version 3 since it was launched in October of last year.

VMware Fusion 3.1 is available for US $79.99 as a download, and for an additional $20, you can add a subscription to all updates for 12 months.
