Hyper9 Achieves Record Revenue Growth, Adds Industry Leaders to Executive Team

Hyper9, Inc., the enterprise-class virtualization management company, today announced results from Q3 2010, representing the company’s best quarter to date, and the third quarter this year in which revenues doubled over the prior period. In addition, the company named two industry veterans to its growing executive team – Bob Quillin, chief marketing officer, and Greg Barone, vice president of worldwide sales.

Quillin joins Hyper9 from VMware where he led vCenter virtualization and cloud management solution marketing for the company’s application, configuration and compliance management product lines. His 27-year career includes extensive enterprise, systems, application and network management experience, including EMC, where he led product marketing and launched the company’s Ionix virtualization management product line. He was also vice president of marketing at nLayers (acquired by EMC), Packeteer and Network Physics.

Barone joined Hyper9 in early Q3 and played a key role in achieving its record revenue growth. He brings 18 years of experience in sales and sales management for technology companies, ranging from startups to multi-billion dollar corporations. Among them, Barone served as vice president of worldwide sales at Cognio (acquired by Cisco Systems) where he drove the company's sales and channel activities from zero to 70 percent market share and a worldwide presence in less than three years.

“VMs are multiplying at an extraordinary pace and companies without a scalable and dynamic virtualization management solution are quickly losing control of their virtual applications,” said Bill Kennedy, CEO of Hyper9. “Our latest quarter shows that organizations are feeling the pain and choosing Hyper9 to improve application awareness within their virtualization initiatives. With the additions of Bob and Greg to our leadership team we are perfectly positioned to continue capitalizing on this growing trend.”

Q3 2010 highlights include:

-          Strong Sales – Hyper9 realized 400 percent year-over-year revenue growth, doubling revenue each quarter in 2010. New contracts came from enterprise and SMB customers and across multiple verticals including education, financial services, state and federal government, and technology, among others. Key customer wins included: The Broad Institute, Costco, Delta Dental, Tyco and the United States Department of Agriculture.

-          Enterprise-Scale Deployments – Customer deployments grew significantly with objects under management scaling into the tens of thousands of VMs per customer. Organizations are selecting Hyper9 for its ability to scale, both in sheer numbers and in terms of integration and visibility within the existing infrastructure.

-          Product Innovation – Hyper9 introduced its Cloud Cost Estimator lens to help companies determine the cost of virtualization in Amazon's EC2 and integrate with third-party collaboration tools such as SharePoint.

-          Industry Recognition – Hyper9 continued to rack up industry accolades, including recognition as one of 5 Virtualization Management Tools that Matter Most (CIO Magazine, Sept. 2010).

-          Employee Growth – Hyper9 expanded its executive team with the addition of Bob Quillin as chief marketing officer and Greg Barone as vice president of worldwide sales.

-          Strategic Partnerships – Alliances with key partners including Accenture Australia extended Hyper9’s global reach into new enterprise markets.

According to industry analysts, virtualization will continue to be the highest-impact issue challenging infrastructure and operations through 2015. While it has become incredibly easy to create and deploy virtual resources, customers are finding it much more complex to manage them. Today, enterprises are struggling to track which VMs support which applications, while optimizing performance and managing capacity. Hyper9 provides a single, flexible interface that provides line of sight into virtual environments that can scale at the pace of today’s business.
