Quest vWorkspace Ready Program Simplifies Thin Client Deployment for Desktop Virtualization

Quest Software, Inc. today announced the creation of the vWorkspace Ready program, a multi-vendor initiative to help businesses simplify the complexities and speed the implementation of virtual desktops. vWorkspace Ready teams hardware vendors with Quest Software and its vWorkspace solution to deliver preconfigured thin client devices to streamline the process of deploying virtual desktops. vWorkspace Ready program charter members include thin client manufacturers 10ZiG, CLI, and IGEL. Quest will demonstrate an array of virtual desktop management solutions this week at Interop New York 2010, in the Javits Convention Center, booth 237. Demonstrations of other popular Quest solutions are available in booths 236 and 537.

“By working closely with Quest, 10ZiG can quickly offer thin clients pre-installed with the latest version of the vWorkspace Connector software,” said Martin Pladgeman, president, 10ZiG Technology. “The vWorkspace Ready designation illustrates 10ZiG’s commitment to the Quest community, and to providing the latest technology for managing virtual desktop environments.”

“A key benefit of implementing desktop virtualization is the quick ROI it provides for organizations,” said Thomas Fei, president, CLI Inc. “By working closely with Quest to pre-configure our devices with vWorkspace, we are delivering added value right out of the box.”

“As organizations emerge from these tough economic conditions, they are looking to extend their virtualization investment to manage their desktops more effectively,” said Jeff Kalberg, general manager, IGEL Technology America, LLC. “Working with Quest, IGEL is providing a pre-installed solution to expedite desktop virtualization deployment across the organization.”

The vWorkspace Ready Program certifies that devices carrying the “vWorkspace Ready” logo are preloaded, completely integrated, and pretested to deliver easier virtual desktop deployment. The vWorkspace Ready designation is given only to hardware manufacturers delivering systems that have passed rigorous testing. Vendors in the program, including charter members 10ZiG, CLI, and IGEL, also provide priority customer support and drive co-development of future vWorkspace Ready device enhancements.

“The vWorkspace Ready Program is all about accelerating the time to value when our joint customers deploy virtual desktops,” said Jon Rolls, vice president, product management, Quest Desktop Virtualization Group. “Together with these charter members, we deliver an optimized solution for organizations wanting an easy move to thin clients and desktop virtualization.”
