Cloud.com to Present and Exhibit at SYS-CON's 7th International Cloud Expo in Silicon Valley

Cloud.com, a leader in open source private and public cloud computing software, today announced Shannon Williams, co-founder and vice president of business development, will be among the industry experts to speak at SYS-CON's 7th International Cloud Expo Silicon Valley, taking place November 1 – 4, 2010 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. In addition, Cloud.com will be demonstrating CloudStack, an innovative open source Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform, at booth 617.

Williams will present “Building and Deploying a Private Cloud in Your Datacenter” on Thursday, November 4 from 2:45 – 3:30 p.m. In his session, Williams will describe how to set up a small private cloud using commodity infrastructure, while also addressing the challenges and potential pitfalls and explaining how to evaluate cloud software platforms and select the right servers, storage, hypervisor and networking infrastructure. From proof of concept to reality, Williams’ session will provide a hands-on look at building and deploying a private cloud in the data center.

“The benefits associated with the cloud are now being realized rather than just estimated, and many enterprises are verifying that positive effect by creating their own private clouds,” said Williams. “Although it’s tempting to think that small deployments will be less complicated, there are many potential pitfalls if an organization is not adequately prepared. During my session, I will provide some preventative steps that enterprises can take to tackle any problems and prepare for a successful private cloud deployment.”

Cloud.com delivers all of the essential components used to build, deploy and manage multitier and multitenant cloud applications in a fully integrated software package. CloudStack seamlessly integrates with existing data center infrastructure without modification, special-purpose hardware or reconfiguration, making it possible for customers to instantly realize the benefits of the cloud. Through the implementation of Cloud.com’s common cloud APIs, Cloud.com provides an open environment that interoperates with a user’s existing cloud initiatives, bringing interoperability and extensions to users’ existing cloud deployments.
