Parallels and BackupAgent Enable Multi-Million Dollar Revenue Growth in the Hosting Industry

Cloud services enablement leader, Parallels, today announced that its partnership with BackupAgent has enabled a multi-million dollar revenue growth for their mutual customers since integrating Parallels Automation and Parallels Business Automation Standard with BackupAgent’s online backup platform.

On the heels of the successful integration with Parallels Automation, BackupAgent launched an integration module for Parallels Business Automation Standard ensuring that the delivery of online backup services through Parallels’ platforms is easy and profitable.

“We decided to integrate with Parallels Automation last year when we realized that many of the service providers and telecommunications companies signing up for our service were also using Parallels Automation, and making a change to Parallels would cut our time to market significantly,” said Roland Sars, co-founder of BackupAgent. “Parallels Automation has slashed the manual processes of integrating our software with billing and provisioning systems from one to two weeks down to a few hours. We are launching our product into the Cloud later this year, and the ability to launch services quickly is incredibly important to us and our customers.”

BackupAgent allows workers in small office/home offices (SoHos) and small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) to backup data from a desktop, laptop or server to a central datacenter. BackupAgent protects businesses against hardware crashes, drive crashes, virus attacks, theft and natural disasters. The software supports desktop and laptop backup, and customer premise server backup, including MS Exchange, MS SQL and MySQL. BackupAgent is multi-tenant; offering resellers a profitable, private label solution.

“BackupAgent has become a leader in the online backup market through its ability to integrate and consistently deliver the services their customers need,” said Jack Zubarev, President of Marketing Alliances at Parallels. “What we keep seeing is a greater number of telecommunications companies, service providers and hosting companies, in particular, looking for quality, easy to use and affordable backup services. BackupAgent delivers this to its customers and is well positioned to take on the cloud.”

BackupAgent works exclusively through an indirect channel of service providers, hosting and telecommunications companies, and resellers. These partners can backup online with BackupAgent through Parallels Automation and Parallels Business Automation Standard and only pay for what they sell without an on-going licence.

“BackupAgent seamlessly integrates with our Parallels Automation platform, which delivers a highly efficient solution and hassle free setup,” said Ole Widahl, Director at Danish Telecom Operator Tele Danmark. “The option to offer trial-periods on BackupAgent products and easily convert test-accounts into full-fledged customers has been impressive, and has helped us grow our business.”

Parallels Automation automates the full lifecycle of integrated operations and business system automation for service providers — from service management and provisioning to customer self-service and datacenter management. It decreases the time spent on repetitive administration tasks and system maintenance, allowing business to focus on growth and profits. Parallels outlines the steps companies should take to launch Cloud services quickly and profitably in the Cloud Service Provider Blueprint, a free roadmap for any company offering services located in the Cloud.

“We have been able to generate additional revenue by reselling BackupAgent through Parallels Automation,” said Martin Robson, CEO at Robson Communications Inc., a leading service provider specialized in dedicated and managed hosting and SaaS Solutions from Vancouver, BC. “BackupAgent is a great addition to our portfolio and the service can be deployed to our customers instantly.”
