Embotics Secures Additional Funding, Announces Key Executive Appointments

Embotics Corporation, a pioneer in virtualization and private cloud management, today announced a new multi-million dollar round of financing from its existing supporters, including Tera Capital and Covington Capital, as well as from an additional major institutional investor. The funding will support growth in Embotics’ engineering, sales and marketing efforts throughout North America and Europe, building the customer base for the company’s end-to-end virtualization management platform. Embotics also today announced the appointments of Jason Cowie as the new vice president of product management, Kirsten Foon to the position of senior director of marketing and Neal Hill to the advisory board.

“We see all the critical pieces coming together in the virtualization market, creating an opportune time to reconfirm our belief in Embotics’ team and technology,” said Howard Sutton, president of Tera Capital. “Our most recent investment reflects our expectation that businesses will continue to move forward with their virtualization projects and will seek out the best management platform to help them ensure successful deployments.”

Jay Litkey, CEO of Embotics, said, “This is a pivotal moment for Embotics, as more organizations are accelerating their use of virtualization and cloud-based computing and are searching for an automated solution capable of optimizing the configuration and performance of their IT services. In order to make the most of this unprecedented market opportunity, we need adequate funding and a strong team of professionals to further our success.”

Jason Cowie assumes the position of vice president of product management, overseeing the direction and strategy for Embotics’ flagship V-Commander virtualization management system and any future products. Previously, Cowie was a general manager at EMC, where he was responsible for the server management business. Prior to that, he served as vice president of product management at Configuresoft. Cowie has an extensive background in sales, business development, consulting and product marketing at other companies, including Microsoft, Scalable Software and Mission Critical Software, which merged with NetIQ in 2000.

Embotics also recently appointed Kirsten Foon to the position of senior director of marketing. Foon has more than 10 years of strategic marketing experience with IT and telecommunications companies, including PlateSpin, Novell and VM6 Software. Neal Hill is joining the Embotics advisory board. Hill’s career has spanned a wide range of senior positions with both early-stage and maturing technology companies, for such firms as Cognos Incorporated, VIMAC Ventures of Boston and Forrester Research. He presently advises several young companies on their growth and financing strategies.

Embotics’ financing and executive appointments come shortly after the launch of V-Commander 3.7, which fulfills the company’s vision for an integrated, scalable platform by which to manage dynamic data centers.
