Cloud.com, a leader in open source private and public cloud computing software, today announced Mark Hinkle, vice president of community, will be among industry experts speaking at SCALE 9x, taking place February 25-27, 2011 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel. In addition, Cloud.com will be demonstrating CloudStack, an innovative open source Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform at booth 25.
Hinkle will present “Crash Course: Open Source Cloud Computing” on February 27 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Century CD room. In this session, Hinkle will describe how open source was used to build the web and now it will help to power the cloud. The presentation will give a brief overview of cloud computing followed by specific examples of open source technologies that lend themselves to build, managing and deploying clouds.
“The benefits from using cloud computing are enormous but many do not know the benefits of incorporating open source into a cloud computing environment,” said Hinkle. “This discussion will cover the open source components (hypervisors, cloud operating systems, etc.) and how they are combined to deliver elastic, on-demand applications (SaaS), platforms (PaaS) and infrastructure (IaaS) as services and the management tools to build and deliver a private or public cloud complete with automated deployment of target applications and systems.”
Cloud.com delivers all of the essential components used to build, deploy and manage multitier and multitenant cloud applications in a fully integrated software package. CloudStack seamlessly integrates with existing data center infrastructure without modification, special-purpose hardware or reconfiguration, making it possible for customers to instantly realize the benefits of the cloud. Through the implementation of Cloud.com’s common cloud APIs, Cloud.com provides an open environment that interoperates with a user’s existing cloud initiatives, bringing interoperability and extensions to users’ existing cloud deployments.
