Virsto Software, an innovator in optimized storage virtualization software, today announced the appointment of Gregg Holzrichter as vice president of marketing and Eric Burgener as vice president of product management. A veteran marketing executive with extensive software and virtualization experience, Holzrichter will be responsible for marketing at Virsto, and brings extensive experience in the development and execution of global integrated campaigns for worldwide field, customer and partner marketing. Burgener joins the company with more than twenty five years of cross-functional experience, holding executive positions in product management, marketing and business development, and will be responsible for product management and the company’s product roadmap.
“We’ve now built out our executive team and are poised to leverage the foundation we laid in 2010 to solve the storage problems in virtual environments on a much wider basis. Expanding our market reach, and continuing to execute on a roadmap of product innovation are important to our customers and partners,” said Mark Davis, CEO of Virsto. “Gregg and Eric will be instrumental in achieving these goals, and are both strong additions to our management team.”
Holzrichter brings 20 years of marketing success with leading companies in server virtualization (VMware), CRM (Siebel Systems), ERP (PeopleSoft), customer experience management (Medallia), and consumer packaged goods (Robert Mondavi/Caliterra). At Siebel, Holzrichter helped build one of the most admired go-to-market organizations in the industry. He held a leadership role in product marketing at PeopleSoft, responsible for worldwide marketing for financials ERP. Holzrichter led VMware’s global campaigns and operations, in addition to Americas marketing, scaling his organization from $100 million to over $1 billion in revenue in under four years. Most recently, Holzrichter was the vice president of marketing at Medallia, where he positioned the company as the leading CEM vendor, and delivered a 550% increase in pipeline within 12 months.
“The current approach to storage architecture has been broken by the widespread adoption of server virtualization. Virsto optimized storage virtualization software offers a unique approach to solving the current storage crisis IT organizations are facing,” said Holzrichter. “This is an exciting time to be joining the company, as the market has started to realize that Virsto delivers the same order of magnitude cost savings for storage virtualization that server consolidation delivered to kick off the virtualization revolution.“
With a broad range of experience working for storage software companies like Veritas, Topio, and Mendocino Software and systems companies like Tandem, Pyramid and Sun, Burgener brings deep expertise in marketing, business development, and delivering product strategy and roadmaps that meet the critical needs of customers today and anticipate market needs in the future. Throughout his career, Burgener has worked consistently in emerging technology areas, with a significant amount of time spent in both storage and server virtualization. Prior to joining Virsto, Burgener was the vice president of marketing at InMage. He also has been an Executive in Residence with Mayfield, and a storage industry analyst at Taneja Group.
“As server virtualization gets more widely deployed in production, storage performance has emerged as a common problem,” said Burgener. “With our innovative storage virtualization layer, Virsto is on the forefront of resolving that problem in a way that not only significantly reduces spindle count and storage capacity requirements, but also provides industry-leading snapshot technology that leverages heterogeneous storage. I look forward to working with the product team to deliver further product innovation as this type of technology is destined to become a required component in virtual infrastructure.”
