Zeus Powers Rackspace Cloud Load Balancers

Zeus Technology, the only pure, software-based application traffic management (Application Delivery Controller) company, today announced that its load balancing technology is powering the Rackspace Cloud Load Balancers. With Zeus software, Rackspace, the world’s leading specialist in the hosting and cloud computing industry, is providing its customers with the ability to quickly load balance and scale multiple Cloud Servers for optimal resource utilization.

Zeus’ pure software application delivery controller, Zeus Traffic Manager, helps to enable Rackspace customers to deliver applications within the Rackspace cloud. Implementing this solution in Rackspace’s suite of cloud solutions, including Cloud Sites, Cloud Files and Cloud Servers, can help customers improve application performance, increase application availability and better manage application updates.

“With Rackspace Cloud Loud Balancers, we get a failover solution without a lot of effort and expense,” said H. Wade Minter, senior developer & chief architect, TeamSnap. “Our Rackspace Cloud Load Balancers really save us in terms of the number of machines that we have to manage – and it’s all based on technology I know is solid. Better quality software, more redundancy, less work on our end and a solution we and our customers can depend on – it was an easy choice for us.”

Further addressing the need for high availability in the cloud, Josh Odom, senior manager of product at Rackspace, and Raja Srinivasan, vice president of cloud computing at Zeus, will speak together at Cloud Expo in New York being held from June 6 – 9, 2011. During their June 8 session, Build and Automate Your Own Cloud High Availability Config Using Cloud Load Balancers in 15 Minutes (or less), they will discuss the benefits of using load balancing solutions in the cloud.

Srinivasan and Odom will also examine how load balancing solutions lead to cost savings, scalability and the peace of mind of knowing that a company’s web-based application or service is prepared to handle massive amounts of traffic. They will additionally discuss how pure software application delivery controllers are fundamentally changing the role of service delivery, particularly as businesses migrate to and leverage the cloud.

“Cloud computing has established its importance in today’s business landscape. As more companies realize and take advantage of its immense potential, they need to ensure they can maintain consistent delivery and application availability,” said Srinivasan. “We are pleased to work with Rackspace to offer a software application delivery controller to their customers, highlighting the value of load balancers in the cloud.”

Cloud Expo is a leading conference on cloud computing and covers a range of topics from infrastructure to application management. To learn more about Zeus, or see a product demo of Zeus Traffic Manager, please visit Rackspace booth 121 at Cloud Expo or visit http://www.zeus.com/.
