Gluster Wins Best of Show at Citrix Synergy 2011

Gluster, the leading provider of scale-out, open source storage solutions for private and public clouds, has been awarded Best of Show for the Gluster Virtual Storage Appliance for Xen at the Citrix Synergy Conference. The Gluster Virtual Storage Appliance also received the Best Partner Solution for Accelerating Cloud Action award. The Best of Synergy awards spotlight the most powerful and exciting solutions in cloud and virtualization technologies, and the Best of Show award is given to the best overall solution showcased at the conference.

Gluster will also host a free webinar this week to provide more specifics on the Gluster Virtual Storage Appliance for Xen. The webinar will be Friday, June 3, at 1 p.m. ET and will feature Tom Trainer, Gluster’s Director of Product Marketing. To register to attend, visit

Gluster’s software-only storage solutions give enterprises the ability to treat physical storage as a virtualized, standardized and scale-on-demand pool in much the same way they treat computing resources today, radically improving storage economics in the process. Freeing enterprises from the constraints of current storage architectures, Gluster enables IT organizations to create scalable, high performance, and highly available storage either in the public cloud or on their choice of commodity hardware within the data center.

Gluster Virtual Storage Appliance for Xen is specifically designed for Xen environments and linearly scales availability, performance and capacity to multiple petabytes. Gluster Virtual Storage Appliance for Xen can be deployed on almost any commodity compute and storage hardware supported by the Xen hypervisor, treating both application data and virtual machine images as files and folders.

“Being awarded Best of Show and Best Partner Solution for Accelerating Cloud Action is a great achievement for Gluster,” said Ben Golub, president and CEO of Gluster. “We are passionate and dedicated to providing next-generation storage solutions that advance cloud computing adoption, and we are thrilled to be recognized by Citrix for our efforts to help IT overcome the challenges that are a natural result of transitioning from traditional computing methods to the modern model.”

A panel of judges—executives from Citrix and IDG’s Computerworld magazine—selected the three category winners and Best of Synergy winner based on nominations, demos and input from attendee voting. The winners were recognized during the Synergy general session last week.
