OpSource, Inc., the leader in enterprise cloud and managed hosting, today announced an alliance with VCE, the Virtual Computer Environment Company, to deliver solutions for service providers that speed time to market for launching public cloud services.
VCE was formed by Cisco and EMC with investments from VMware and Intel, to combine industry-leading compute, network, storage, virtualization and management technologies into prepackaged units of infrastructure. Vblock™ Infrastructure Platforms simplify IT delivery by eliminating challenges that consume data center resources, allowing customers to focus on business innovation instead of integrating, validating and managing IT infrastructure.
Vblock platforms are integrated and prequalified as a single entity to deliver the virtualization, processing, networking and storage capabilities required for cloud-based computing models. OpSource’s orchestration software integrates disparate applications and platforms required to deliver a complete hourly, subscription-based service, including sign-up, metering, billing, reporting and self-service provisioning of cloud-based CPU, memory, storage and networking. Together, OpSource and VCE’s combined solution accelerates the time to market of competitive cloud-based computing services by addressing the needs for reliable infrastructure and the software to deliver the service.
“IT departments from both multinational companies and smaller organizations alike have turned to SingTel to provide a broad range of managed services and Cloud based services to increase business agility, improve productivity and reduce the cost of operations,” said Alvin Kok, Head of Infocomm Service. “As a leading provider of One-Stop ICT services in Asia Pacific, our customers require the flexibility of these services to support the testing and development, software-as-a-service, business continuity planning (BCP), backup and recovery of their business operations. We have partnered with OpSource and VCE, and their alliance will accelerate cloud adoption for our customers. Having a pre-tested and pre-integrated solution based on VMware, Cisco and EMC will reduce the expense and burden of developing a new cloud service.”
“Telecom providers like SingTel can bring cloud services to market rapidly with highly automated solutions built on integrated OpSource and VCE technologies,” said Blake Sallé, SVP, Worldwide Channels, Service Provider, and Public Sector Sales, VCE. “With Vblock platforms as the foundation for cloud computing and OpSource as the orchestration connector, service providers have a robust framework that will not require extensive integration efforts or expense to move applications into the cloud. This will enable service providers to rapidly expand their portfolios and capitalize on the growing demand for cloud services.”
More and more enterprises are expected to turn to service providers for cloud services. A recent Ovum survey of more than 100 global multinational corporations (MNCs) throughout North America, Europe and Asia Pacific showed that cloud services adoption is up 61 percent from April 2010, with 45 percent of MNCs already utilizing cloud sourcing for at least some IT services. Telecommunication providers were rated as trusted partners and credible suppliers of cloud services according to 49 percent of respondents, up from 37 percent in 2010.
“As demand for public cloud services increases, cloud service providers and enterprise organizations are incorporating new technology infrastructure solutions to speed their time-to-market and thus their responsiveness to client needs,” explains Patrick Zelten, Vice President at Forsythe, a national IT infrastructure integrator. “The partnership between OpSource and VCE enables Forsythe to address this urgency for our clients with a pre-integrated solution that further reduces the time required to deploy new cloud service infrastructure.”
“The enablement of network service providers is an important factor for the adoption of cloud services as a whole," said Vince DiMemmo, General Manager, Cloud and IT Services, Equinix. "This alliance addresses a common need in the network service provider community and will help speed their time to market to deliver cloud services.”
“In one integrated solution, VCE and OpSource offer telecom and other service providers the technologies, services and capabilities needed to quickly and easily customize and turn-up cloud services for SMBs and multinational companies alike,” said Treb Ryan, CEO of OpSource. “Together, we provide the level of support required, whether it is involvement at all stages of development or bundling the service as part of a white label offering.”
