CB Richard Ellis Closes the Deal on VDI with Technologies from Xangati and VMware; Reduces Time to Resolution by 70 Percent
Xangati, the recognized leader in infrastructure performance management, today announced that CB Richard Ellis, Inc. (CBRE), the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm, has selected the Xangati VDI Dashboard combined with VMware View in order to enable the highest performance and availability for its expanding global virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) initiative. Providing live and continuous insights across the entire infrastructure, the Xangati VDI Dashboard and VMware View solution gives CBRE the confidence and ability to manage VDI to operational scale, ensuring a positive end-user experience as the company continues its migration to desktop virtualization.

“CBRE has long been recognized for utilizing emerging and innovative technologies, like Xangati, to help move the company’s business goals forward,” said Rory Clements, Virtualization Architect EMEA, CBRE. “Our VMware View VDI initiative has given us the ability to improve customer service by giving our employees a better and more productive computing experience virtually than in a more traditional desktop-based environment. VMware View combined with the Xangati VDI Dashboard enables us to quickly identify and resolve both network- and storage-related infrastructure issues impacting performance, and gives us the confidence to push forward to the next stage of the rollout.”

The Xangati and VMware View solution being implemented by CBRE is part of a new promotional program being launched today by Xangati to encourage and facilitate the success of emerging desktop virtualization initiatives being undertaken by enterprises and Fortune 500 companies, such as CBRE. Until September 30, 2011, customers can purchase a Xangati VDI Dashboard for VMware View starter kit that supports up to 100 VMware View virtual desktops for $500.

“Now, IT managers need to understand the importance of meeting both their enterprise IT needs and – just as importantly – give end-users what they want,” said Alan Robin, CEO of Xangati. “When combined with VMware View, the Xangati VDI Dashboard allows organizations – such as CBRE – to accelerate their desktop virtualization initiatives by managing end-user experiences from the start – thus providing value immediately.”

“At VMware, we pride ourselves on being able to provide customers with a a simple and secure way to access and manage their virtual desktops with VMware View,” said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president of end user computing products at VMware. “We’re excited to work with Xangati to help customers, like CBRE, manage the end-user experience throughout their VDI journey and modernize their desktop infrastructure.”

Xangati and VMware Program Addresses Big Management Challenges
Gartner, Inc. predicts that by 2013, eighty percent of businesses will support a workforce using tablets, and by 2014, ninety percent of organizations will support corporate applications on personal devices. As end users demand corporate access from any device, IT managers need to take proactive steps today to meet the new management challenges. For organizations to be comfortable expanding with desktop virtualization, certainty of the end-user experience from the very start is critical.

CBRE has already rolled out VMware View virtual desktops for its entire UK operations (more than 2,000 users) and is in the process of adding thousands of virtual desktops across its regional and remote offices in Europe. Xangati provides performance management for the network and storage assets while monitoring the protocol performance that support those desktops as the CBRE rollout scales from 2,000 - 4,000 users. With an ultimate goal of 100 percent virtualized desktops throughout the entire organization, the ability to proactively be alerted to performance issues – anywhere in the virtual and physical infrastructure impacting the VDI experience – is of utmost importance for CBRE. After reviewing numerous management solutions, CBRE selected the combination of VMware View and Xangati VDI Dashboard for its VDI initiative. Xangati VDI Dashboard was installed overnight and solving network bottleneck issues within minutes.

The agent-free Xangati VDI Dashboard is easily deployed into existing VMware View deployments to provide performance management for network and storage assets that support those desktops. By gathering, presenting and continuously analyzing data metrics across all IT silos, the Xangati VDI Dashboard can see problems that other solutions miss. In addition, its unique and patent-pending Performance Health Engine immediately alerts administrators to any anomalies occurring in the infrastructure and automatically DVR-records full details about the problem.
