Virtualization Technology News and Information
Thanks Again to VMware for the vExpert 2011 Award

I've done this privately already, and then again in public with a quick Tweet, but I couldn't believe that with all of the initial excitement around this award, I hadn't yet published something here on about being honored for the third year in a row with the VMware vExpert distinction.  It really is humbling and quite an honor.

The VMware vExpert award is a recognition of someone's contributions to the VMware and broader virtualization and cloud computing communities.  These folks share their expertise and experiences, provide guidance to others, and evangelize the value of virtualization solutions to anyone who will listen.  Keeping VMblog up-to-date with all of the latest news and information in this market was a major part of that decision making process, to be sure.  And so I thank everyone who visits VMblog on a daily or regular basis to get their fill of virtualization news.  I enjoy keeping up with the industry's goings on, and have been involved in this virtualization market for the past 11 years now.  But I started this Web site back in 2004 to try and share that love of virtualization with other people who are equally passionate and interested in the subject... and you guys have shown up in numbers over the years, and I appreciate that a lot.

I am personally excited to be a part of the vExpert program once again this year.  John Troyer, the fearless leader of the program at VMware, does a fantastic job year in and year out to make this award and family of virtualization enthusiasts the best that it can be.  Every year, the program changes, grows, and shapes itself into something even better.  And I look forward to this year to see what John and team have cooked up for us.  In addition to thanking John for putting up with all of us (I keep telling him he has an awesome job, yet at the same time a pain the butt job thanks to having to deal with us, some of the most opinionated people in the virtualization world), I’d also like to extend my thanks to the vExpert board of voters that helped John go through the mounds of submissions for this year's award.  And finally, I'd like to recognize and thank Steve Herrod, VMware CTO, for putting his brand on this program and sponsoring it as an executive of the company.

I'd like to acknowledge and congratulate all of this year's vExpert recipients.  They are all rock stars in this industry in one way or another, and if you can find one on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, the VMware community or one of their personal blog sites... I encourage you to follow them and get to know them.  I can't wait to meet them all at this year's VMworld event in Las Vegas.  This is truly a great group of individuals with a common shared passion.

Thanks again!
