RES Software Enhances User Adoption of Citrix XenApp at Bank of American Fork

RES Software, the proven leader in dynamic desktop solutions, today announced that Bank of American Fork has implemented RES Workspace Manager as part of its Citrix installation. The Bank initially turned to Citrix XenApp to facilitate the rapid deployment of applications and ensure a seamless transition for end users during a branch opening, merger or acquisition. Working with Citrix, RES Software has helped Bank of American Fork improve the performance and acceptance of XenApp across its 15 locations.

Bank of American Fork selected XenApp to help facilitate its planned expansion. XenApp gave IT the ability to bring new branches up and running on IT systems quickly and provided the added security benefit of centralizing all critical data and applications. The Bank then turned to RES Workspace Manager to help enhance its XenApp deployment by eliminating the need for login scripts, which in some instances took a long time to run and frustrated users. Also critical to the success of XenApp at the Bank, Workspace Manager helped users more willingly adopt the new technology by giving them an improved user experience. With RES Software, each user’s personalization and configurations are carried across sessions, making it easier for users to accept new delivery technologies and become more productive.

RES Workspace Manager enables Bank of American Fork to capture all of the personalization settings of its users and separate them from the operating system, delivery technology and underlying operating system. This will help Bank of American Fork ease the user impact for future infrastructure changes, including planned migrations to Citrix XenDesktop and Windows 7.

“RES Software has helped us enhance the many benefits Citrix XenApp offers,” said Mark Holley, IT director of Bank of American Fork. “When you deploy a new type of technology, there are always concerns about how your user base will react and what performance levels to expect. Workspace Manager enables our users to personalize their applications for the best experience and thus maximize the advantages our Citrix environment. We view RES as a critical part of our desktop environment moving forward as we look toward additional virtual desktop projects.”

Bank of American Fork will soon begin its desktop transformation initiative with Citrix XenDesktop, providing end-users with a richer desktop experience. During this project, the organization will also migrate its 210 desktops to the Windows 7 operating system, targeting a completion date of January 2012. Workspace Manager will help accelerate these changes and assist the Bank in managing a hybrid desktop environment during the transition.

“Desktop environments in the financial sector are very demanding in terms of compliancy and complexity, and Citrix helps financial institutions of all sizes meet these challenges,” said Jim Kirby, president of RES Software, Americas. “RES Software works with Citrix technology to give financial companies flexible desktop and application delivery options, while adding a layer of centralized management for user personalization and settings that ensures each user is given an optimal and consistent experience.”
