McAfee will discuss how traditional security models need to change in order to secure data center and private cloud environments at the VMworld 2011 Conference.
Businesses have evolved from needing to secure “things” like endpoints, networks, services, and devices, to securing the cloud, where boundaries are no longer physical, they are contextual. The power of virtualization is dynamic, providing opportunities to manage beyond the traditional boundaries. Data and information are connected everywhere; security needs to achieve the same ubiquity. Virtualization gives options to re-think best approaches and to secure data from, through and within the various components that constitute a virtualized environment. Virtualization is all about flexibility, efficiency and scalability.
McAfee speakers and presentations include:
- Kim Singletary, Director of Virtualization Solutions, will participate on the panel “Client to Cloud Security Panel: Enhancing Protection at All Layers” on Tuesday, August 30 at 11:30am. The panelists will discuss the new era of computing platforms where security is a fundamental requirement for computing to be able to continue to grow and reach its full potential. The panel experts will address the problems and solutions to secure customers, the data center, the cloud and the traffic between.
- Raj Samani, Chief Technology Officer, McAfee EMEA will present “Cloud Security and the Framework for Assurance” on Wednesday, August 31 at 2:30pm. Migration to public cloud computing presents tremendous opportunities for businesses. However, businesses will be faced with new challenges and meeting existing requirements for security and compliance represents the biggest obstacle to taking advantage of a public cloud strategy. Session attendees will learn how McAfee and VMware are working to develop a global assurance framework that applies to public and private cloud infrastructure and how to leverage public cloud without losing transparency.
McAfee will have the following booth demos:
- At McAfee booth #546, conference attendees can view demos of advanced threat detection for intra-VM traffic, vShield integration and real-time threat awareness from McAfee Global Threat Intelligence.
- At Intel booth #738, there will be demos of McAfee products for virtualization highlighting security, intelligence and management through, within and for virtualized environments. In addition, a “Chalk Talk” will be presented on End to End Security for the Virtual Data Center with a follow-up Q&A session by McAfee technical experts at the Intel IQ Bar.
