PHD Virtual Unveils New Integrated Backup and Replication Solution

PHD Virtual Technologies, pioneer and innovator in virtualization protection solutions, today announced the new version of PHD Virtual Backup and Replication, providing a single integrated solution for virtual machine backup, recovery and replication. The new version includes an enhanced and optimized processing engine that provides unparalleled performance and scalability for backup and recovery of virtual machines along with new capabilities that provide more flexibility for DR in virtual environments.

PHD Virtual Backup and Replication raises the bar for virtual machine backup and restore performance with a new optimized processing engine that further extends PHD Virtual's lead in providing the fastest backup and recovery performance. A new enterprise edition provides twice the number of data streams per VBA (Virtual Backup Appliance), enabling up to 8 parallel streams for concurrent backup and restore processing. The new processing engine also provides enhanced support to fully leverage multiple virtual CPU's and virtual resources enabling seamless scalability.

PHD Virtual's unique approach to virtual machine replication, replicates VM's directly from existing backups on backup storage. Unlike other products, this approach eliminates impact to production systems by removing the need to perform additional snapshots for replication purposes. PHD Virtual's intelligent replication technology leverages deduplication and compression to minimize the amount of data transmitted to the secondary location and only transmits changed data after initial replication. An integrated Test Mode enables verification of replicated VM's.

Additional new capabilities including OpenRestoreā„¢, Open Export and mass restore, provide increased flexibility to enhance DR for virtual environments. These new technologies make recovery and portability of critical backup data easier than ever before, enabling optimized transfer to tape systems and cloud storage.

"As virtualization usage continues to grow rapidly, the need to provide better performance and scalability along with more optimized methods for disaster recovery is paramount," said Thomas Charlton, chairman and CEO, PHD Virtual Technologies. "Products from other vendors are plagued with unnecessary cost and complexity and continue to fall short in providing the performance and scalability necessary to protect rapidly growing virtual environments. This new release takes backup, recovery and replication performance to a new level while providing unparalleled ease of use and scalability for any size environment."

PHD Virtual will demonstrate PHD Virtual Backup and Replication at VMworld 2011 next week in Las Vegas, Booth #864. PHD Virtual Backup and Replication will be generally available in Q4 2011.
