ManageIQ Expands Unified Cloud Management with Enhanced Red Hat Platform Support

ManageIQ today announced it has joined the Open Virtualization Alliance (OVA) and has plans to support Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 upon general availability. ManageIQ unified cloud management solutions provide comprehensive monitoring, management and automation capabilities that are quick-to-deploy and easy-to-use, reducing the cost and complexity of enterprise clouds.

ManageIQ solutions are Red Hat ready, optimized to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and deliver broad management capabilities for Red Hat environments including configuration management, workload provisioning and infrastructure automation. Support for the upcoming Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 release will extend ManageIQ unified management across heterogeneous virtual infrastructures enabling organizations to leverage Red Hat as a cost-effective enterprise virtualization platform.

The use of virtualization has exploded in datacenters, resulting in better utilization of existing IT resources while enabling the new service delivery models and elasticity of cloud computing. As enterprises evolve from single-platform virtualized infrastructures to hybrid clouds, additional tightly integrated cross-platform management capabilities are required to ensure operational efficiency, interoperability, resource optimization and high availability.

The OVA is a consortium of companies committed to fostering the adoption of Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM). Created and governed by Red Hat, IBM, HP, and Intel, the OVA encourages interoperability and works to accelerate the expansion of the ecosystem of third-party solutions around KVM.

“We are excited to have ManageIQ in the Open Virtualization Alliance,” said Navin Thadani, senior director, Virtualization Business at Red Hat. “As enterprises continue to adopt KVM and our Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization solution, customers will need tools that reduce the complexity of managing hybrid virtual and cloud environments.”

“Organizations are rapidly evolving to heterogeneous virtualized infrastructures and hybrid enterprise clouds, making interoperability and seamless management essential,” said Joseph Fitzgerald, CEO of ManageIQ. “Our solutions provide enterprises with comprehensive, unified management of heterogeneous enterprise virtual and cloud environments that enable IT to increase agility, accelerate service delivery and maximize their resource investments. With our planned support for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, we’re giving customers even more flexibility to leverage best-of-breed technologies and seamlessly integrate virtual platforms —while maintaining continuous visibility and policy-based control through a single pane of glass.”
