Ed Hubbard Joins Virtual Bridges as Vice President of Products and Alliances
Virtual Bridges, Inc. today announced it has named Edward (Ed) Hubbard vice president of products and alliances. In his new role, Hubbard, who most recently served as senior director of business development at Citrix Systems, will drive the company’s long-term product and partnership strategy, working closely with clients to understand their business plans and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

A 20 year veteran of the technology industry, Hubbard has held leadership positions at emerging software companies as well as large enterprises. He spent time with Dell, Microsoft and Intel before founding United Devices and serving as the company’s CEO. After a successful merger with Univa UD, Hubbard joined Citrix, managing the company’s virtualization business development efforts including strategic relationships with Microsoft and other ecosystem partners.

“I’ve spent many years in the desktop virtualization space. While there’s been a lot of talk about VDI, for too long it has been just that,” said Hubbard. “The buzz behind VDI Gen2 is real. After talking with customers and watching the market traction, its clear Virtual Bridges has cracked the code and is delivering a solution that produces real results. I couldn’t be happier to be on this team.”

Hubbard will guide the roadmap for VERDE, the industry’s first VDI Gen2 offering. VERDE core capabilities include online, offline and branch VDI, a Gold Master provisioning model, a Distributed Connection brokering architecture, flexibility to run both Windows and Linux desktops, branch-level VDI at LAN speeds, the ability to span both on-premises and hosted deployment modes and desktop portability on a USB stick. Additionally, VERDE’s new Storage Optimizer™ slashes storage costs, long viewed as one of the top inhibitors to VDI.

“Ed’s impressive track record at both early stage start-ups and large corporations, combined with his deep understanding of the VDI market is a huge asset for our team,” said Jim Curtin, CEO of Virtual Bridges. “The shift behind VDI Gen2 has been significant. We’re hearing it from customers, partners and now, with leaders like Ed joining, its incredible validation for where we are and what is ahead. We’re thrilled to have Ed on board as we continue to grow this exciting business.”

A frequent industry speaker and author, Hubbard has received more than a dozen patents for his work in the technology industry. He holds a master’s of business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School and a bachelor’s degree in information systems from the University of South Florida.
