New update to Centrix WorkSpace Universal provides secure application portability across shared resources and SharePoint content

Centrix Software, a leading provider of unified end-user computing solutions, today announced a new release of Centrix WorkSpace Universal, a service and application delivery platform for hybrid IT environments, which enables organizations to provide secure access to corporate applications and content from any location and any device.

Building on a platform that aggregates applications from multiple delivery technologies, including Citrix, Microsoft, Quest and VMware, local PC and Cloud applications, WorkSpace Universal enables organizations to maintain control and security across increasing technical diversity, while enabling users to embrace flexible work styles.

New features in Centrix WorkSpace Universal 5.2 include:

  •  Microsoft SharePoint integration - where organizations are using Microsoft SharePoint as an intranet platform, WorkSpace Universal integrates this contentwith application content and maintains the web portability of these resources while maintaining authenticated access to them. It also supports access to real-time social media content used within the intranet environment.
  • Windows folder aggregation and access - organizations can easily provide access to existing Windows shares on file servers as web accessible resources without the need to change existing infrastructure. All access to these folders is authenticated and monitored by WorkSpace Universal.
  • Support for 2X application server - in addition to supporting application and virtual desktop platforms from Microsoft, Citrix and VMware, WorkSpace Universal also integrates with 2X Application server from 2X Software.

"The influx of personal devices and the growing need to access resources outside of the office is placing increasing pressure on IT to provide more agility without compromising security, control or compliance. With increasing application delivery through cloud and SaaS technology and workspace portability becoming ever-more prevalent, flexibility is key to building a desktop delivery infrastructure that is future-proof and provides IT with the ability to support greater business agility" said Richard Pegden, Director of Product Marketing at Centrix Software.  "With WorkSpace Universal, organizations can truly deliver a blended application and content delivery strategy that enables the best use of multiple technologies."
