Desktone,
Inc., the pioneer of Desktops as a Service (DaaS), today announced
that Paladin Building Services, LLC, a commercial building services
contractor, has implemented Desktone’s DaaS platform in order to deploy
cost-effective, full-featured virtual desktops in the cloud. Paladin
transitioned from a thin client environment to Desktone’s cloud
environment. By hosting its desktops in Desktone’s cloud, Paladin was
able to avoid the high cost and time commitment that would have been
required to set up an internal server infrastructure.
Paladin works with hundreds of subcontractors to provide facilities
maintenance services for commercial, industrial, retail and residential
buildings. The company looked to outsource desktop management to avoid
hiring in-house IT staff and to eliminate the need to build onsite
server infrastructure. The Desktone cloud enables Paladin to stay
focused on core business operations and growth, rather than allocating
resources to IT management.
“With an extensive network of subcontractors and plans for expansion
throughout the Southeast, we didn’t want to be concerned with building
and managing a complex IT network,” said Jeffrey B. Aibel, chief
executive officer of Paladin Building Services. “We turned to Desktone
to provide the infrastructure, management and long-term support of the
IT systems we need to run our business. It doesn’t matter if we’re in
the office, on the road visiting a client or overseas – Desktone’s cloud
provides instant, reliable access to our desktops anytime, from
anywhere.”
Desktone is the industry’s only cloud-hosted virtual desktop platform.
The Desktone cloud removes many of the barriers to traditional virtual
desktop infrastructure (VDI) – including steep upfront infrastructure
costs, complex deployment and management, and limited scalability – by
delivering desktops as a service, enabling enterprises to rapidly
provision desktops on any device.
“DaaS is an ideal solution for businesses looking to realize the
benefits of virtual desktops without taking on the challenge of building
a customized infrastructure solution,” said Peter McKay, chief executive
officer of Desktone. “By hosting desktops in the cloud, we’re able to
help companies like Paladin quickly and easily deploy virtual desktops
for employees on a variety of endpoint devices, including PCs, MacBooks
and mobile devices. Removing desktop management concerns allows
enterprises to stay focused on building their business, and not on
building the IT support systems and processes needed to run the
business.”
