Bitdefender integrates with VMware to address growing market demand

In a new move of security innovation, Bitdefender has recently announced that its Security for Virtualized Environments now integrates completely with VMware vShield 5 Endpoint for agentless anti-malware.

The old way of securing virtualized data centers relied on a traditional anti-virus that generated high operating costs and significant performance bottlenecks through poor resource utilization.

The growing market demands for integrated security for virtualized environments is faced head on by Bitdefender, with a fresh approach to security to combine award-winning anti-malware technology and VMware vShield 5 Endpoint, resulting in maximized consolidation ratios without sacrificing security.

Plus a considerable selection of additional advantages; agentless anti-malware with centralized scanning, memory and process scanning, management capabilities on a single virtual machine instance, and extended protection for virtualized servers and desktops' guest systems running on Windows, Linux or Solaris.

Parag Patel, Vice-President, Global Strategic Alliances, VMware, has congratulated Bitdefender for meeting all the necessary requirements for integration: “The combined virtualization and security expertise of VMware and Bitdefender will deliver ongoing value to our customers by offloading key anti-malware functions to a secure virtual machine for improved performance.”

Bogdan Dumitru, CTO of Bitdefender, notes that “given the complexity and growth of virtualized environments, traditional endpoint security approaches are highly inefficient, lacking in scalability and quickly proving to be ineffective. Working with leaders in virtualization, our security solutions leverage technologies like VMware vShield to optimize performance and ensure that enterprises protect their valuable data, while reducing financial and operational burdens associated with other security approaches”.
