VMTurbo Joins OpenStack Community

VMTurbo, the leading provider of intelligent workload management software for cloud and virtualized environments, today announced it has joined the OpenStack community, a global community of developers collaborating on cloud architecture and an open source cloud operating system. As companies move their workloads into, and scale out virtualized and cloud infrastructure, they encounter new management challenges. As a member of OpenStack, VMTurbo is working to add OpenStack support to its intelligent workload management solutions to make certain that applications have the resources they require in complex, multi-tenant cloud environments. Participation in the community will help broaden the choices available to enterprises and service providers using VMTurbo Operations Manager, and drive the adoption of cloud computing by providing key management capabilities to cloud builders.

Virtual and cloud infrastructure requires a different approach for operations management to deliver efficiency without compromising on service levels. VMTurbo delivers a cloud-scale control plane that identifies constraints and automates resource allocation decisions to optimize utilization and meet SLAs. The technology addresses resource contention before problems occur, makes certain that applications have the resources they require, and ensures the infrastructure is utilized in the most efficient way possible.

“Cloud computing promises improvements in IT service delivery and greater financial returns,” said Yuri Rabover, vice president of product strategy at VMTurbo. “To achieve these goals, organizations need to maximize the investments made in their cloud platform. Collecting data, creating alerts and troubleshooting incidents is just not a feasible method of management at cloud-scale – and it fundamentally threatens quality of service agreements for internal and external stakeholders. VMTurbo simplifies the complex decision-making processes in managing cloud environments by providing IT with proactive, actionable solutions and information – enabling easier scale and cloud adoption for critical IT services. We look forward to working with the OpenStack community to bring our technology to this growing platform.”

Backed by more than 180 participating organizations including Dell, Cisco, HP and Microsoft, OpenStack is a massively scalable, open source cloud operating system that is moving towards the goal of becoming the industry standard for public and private clouds. With its ideal of remaining technology neutral, VMTurbo’s philosophy aligns perfectly with the OpenStack initiative, which is designed to allow users more freedom and flexibility to leverage the full potential of a cloud computing architecture. By eliminating vendor lock-in, technology companies gain the autonomy to participate in a growing market that spans cloud providers.
