Teradici Announces Next-Generation Tera2 PCoIP Zero Clients

Teradici, the developer of the innovative PC-over-IP (PCoIP) protocol that enables a true PC experience for hosted desktops, today announced the availability of its next-generation Tera2 PCoIP zero client processors. Backed by an ecosystem of over 30 OEM desktop client partners, the new Tera2 PCoIP zero client chipset includes the TERA2321 dual display zero client processor and the TERA2140 quad display zero client processor.

PCoIP zero clients are a key component of Teradici’s industry-leading, end-to-end VDI technology and partner ecosystem which includes VMware View, APEX 2800 server offload cards, PCoIP remote workstations and Teradici RDSH for Microsoft RDS environments. PCoIP zero clients are available from over 30 OEM partners with SKUs and form factors to fit every need including integrated monitors, standalone clients, Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) clients, IP phones and touch screen monitors. 

Tera2 PCoIP zero client features include:

  • DisplayPort added to existing DVI and VGA interfaces with up to 2560x1600 resolution and 30” monitor support
  • Up to five times the VDI pixel performance over the previous generation zero client
  • At under 6W of typical system power, Tera2 dual display zero clients consume half the power of the previous generation
  • New quad display zero client support with VMware View
  • Faster USB 2.0 transfer rates
  • Reduced bandwidth with client-side caching and enhanced compression
  • Full power management with Wake-on-LAN support
  • Smaller, more integrated processor enables compact zero client form factors
  • Stronger AES256-bit encryption
  • Support for upcoming unified communications voice over IP solutions
  • Additional smart card support and other new features included in the latest PCoIP Firmware and Management Console release
  • Broker connectivity to virtual desktops or remote workstation hosts using VMware View Manager
