RestorePoint Deploys Data Restoration and Disaster Recovery Services Powered by Asigra for Commercial Real Estate Market

Asigra Inc., a leading Cloud Backup, Recovery and Restore (BURR) software provider since 1986, today announced that RestorePoint is delivering data restoration and disaster recovery (DR) services to the commercial real estate market based on Asigra Cloud Backup software. Focused not only on backup but on the recovery of data, RestorePoint leverages expert managed support and innovative technology to guarantee its customers the highest levels of data recovery success.

The amount of data stored and retained continues to increase, especially when organizations such as publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) have regulatory requirements to comply with. These companies struggle to complete daily backup routines within required time frames and need solutions capable of meeting backup windows. Additionally, real estate companies have become more reliant on technology necessitating greater data availability and more reliable recovery. These organizations also have a big concern about meeting compliance requirements related to data security and integrity.

RestorePoint addresses restrictive backup windows by utilizing block-level Incremental Forever technology that only requires one full backup. All future backups are merely updates of new and changed data which reduces throughput and time requirements. RestorePoint not only backs up data, but also helps its customers test their recovery processes. The less a recovery process is tested the more risk of loss the company is exposed to. Finally, because RestorePoint is Powered by Asigra, the solution provides government approved NIST FIPS 140-2 certification that assures backup data is encrypted at the highest levels of security and compliance.

"Working with RestorePoint and Asigra technology gives me confidence in my data protection plan," said Ivan De Moya, IT Director of Equity One, Inc. "I know that if I ever need to restore, it will take a few minutes rather than several hours. It's about the recovery not the backup and I know that Asigra and RestorePoint will keep my data safe."

RestorePoint Provides Customers with Two Solutions:

  • Virtual Vault in a Box (V-VIAB): A Cloud Backup offering that backs up data from the customer data center to the RestorePoint data vault which is then replicated to a failover data center.
  • Vault in a Box (VIAB): VIAB is a hybrid cloud offering that allows organizations to back up to a data vault located in the customer data center at LAN speeds. The local backup data is then incrementally replicated to a second data center offsite.

"We ran a comparison between Asigra and the solution we were using and found that Asigra better met our needs," said Nick Sistos, IT Director at Macklowe Properties. "The Asigra backup ran much faster, and the data was all encrypted, which was good, because I was nervous about the security level provided by the old solution."

"There are many applications that are common among real estate companies. We understand these applications and the technologies they use which helps us provide the most comprehensive data protection solution possible for these organizations," said Jeff Brathall, EVP of Business Services at RestorePoint. "We are proud to partner with Asigra for the delivery of these high service levels and our ten year track record in both North America and abroad is a testament to our success."

"Data is fundamental to any business and therefore must be recoverable in the event of system downtime to maintain viability of the business," said David Smith, Vice President of Partner Sales at Asigra. "RestorePoint relays that point loud and clear and the commercial real estate market is taking note. As we have seen in so many natural and man-made disasters, the ability to recover critical data when required is essential and we are proud to team with RestorePoint in that mission."
