Zenoss, a leading provider of
unified IT operations software for physical, virtual, and cloud-based
IT infrastructures, today announced that the El Paso Independent School
District (EPISD), one of the top 100 largest school districts in the
U.S., is using Zenoss to monitor its growing network of 100 campuses,
distributed over 250 square miles with one-tenth the staff of
comparably-sized districts.
The EPISD employs a modest IT staff to manage the district's
computer services for 60,000 students and 9,000 staff and faculty. As
the school network continued to grow, adding as many as two new school
campuses each year, its infrastructure became more complex. Managing
more than 3,358 devices, primarily of network gear and servers, EPISD
needed a solution to help streamline alerting, monitoring and management
of their infrastructure as a whole.
Stephen Crye, Network Infrastructure Manager at the EPISD, deployed
Zenoss and quickly saw the benefits of having a simple monitoring
solution that not only monitored the network as a whole, but also
improved their alert system to a one email per issue system.
Integrating Zenoss enabled EPISD to alleviate the stress for a modest IT
team and to free up time and resources. EPISD's network also became
more efficient: The IT team began to rapidly hit departmental goals much
earlier than anticipated and could provide better support to their
remote facilities.
"Our network has never experienced a catastrophic system-wide
failure in the years I've been here," says Crye. "But if we didn't have
Zenoss, we couldn't continue to keep our network up and running, given
our recent growth and reductions in staff. We've found that we have had
fewer problems and increased productivity since deploying Zenoss.
Zenoss also frees up my team to focus on more strategic IT issues that
impact our customers -- the students, faculty and staff. I have yet to
see a more simple and elegant monitoring solution, and Zenoss tech
support is the best we've experienced."
"We're very excited that the El Paso Independent School District
chose Zenoss to monitor their rapidly growing network," says Tim
Galligan, SVP of Customer Operations. "To hear that our solution
provides Steve and the El Paso Independent School District with the 'big
picture' monitoring solution they were looking for is really a
testament to what we strive for here at Zenoss: An easy-to-use and
efficient monitoring solution for any organization, be it physical,
virtual, or hybrid IT infrastructures."
