Xceedium Extends Xsuite for VMware

Xceedium, Inc., the premier provider of privileged identity management for the hybrid cloud, today announced the availability of Xsuite for VMware. This extension to the Xsuite platform enables organizations to secure and audit privileged access to VMware vSphere, including both the vCenter Server and guest operating systems running on VMware vSphere.

Xsuite for VMware is an extension of Xsuite’s current hybrid-cloud security and compliance capabilities. Xsuite secures both traditional and virtual infrastructure running on premises or in the cloud, and it enables organizations to enforce fine-grained access control and to monitor, record and audit everything privileged users do.

“Segregating management functions is the lowest hanging fruit of virtualization and cloud security. Xceedium exceeds this requirement,” said Edward Haletky, Analyst, The Virtualization Practice, LLC “by not only segregating and gating access to these all important functions but by also providing controlled access, via a robust authentication and authorization model, to any virtual or physical machines within the environment.”

Xsuite enables organizations to proactively monitor and record administrative sessions on both vCenter Server and guest systems and to stop unauthorized activity before harm can occur. Xsuite’s unified policy management enables organizations to seamlessly manage and enforce policies from a single interface, improving security and streamlining compliance tasks. Xsuite for VMware is delivered as a turnkey, OVF-based virtual appliance for simplified deployment and management.

  • Complete Privileged Identity and Access Management for both vCenter Server and VMware Guest Systems: Centrally manage and enforce roles and privileged user policies for access to the vCenter Server and guest systems running on VMware
  • Role- and Policy-Based Privileged Access Control: Centrally control access to vCenter Server and guest systems running on VMware
  • Full Audit Trail and Session Recording: Log and record all privileged user sessions for vCenter Server and guest systems running on VMware vSphere
  • Privileged User Single Sign-On: Once authenticated to Xsuite, authorized users are a single click from vCenter Server or guest systems running on vSphere
  • Password and Access Key Management: Vault and manage the full lifecycle of privileged user credentials and access keys for the vCenter server and VMware guest systems
  • Full Identity Attribution for Shared Accounts: All privileged user activity on both the vCenter Server and guest systems is tied to a specific user identity, even if guest systems are configured with shared accounts (e.g., root, administrator)
  • Auto-discovery and Provisioning: Integrate with VMware vCenter Server APIs, enabling auto-discovery and auto-provisioning of security and compliance policies for guest systems
  • Smartcard-Based Multi-Factor Authentication: Xsuite supports several multi-factor authentication methods including the smart cards mandated by the U.S. federal government, which are increasingly used by commercial organizations
  • High Assurance and Public-Sector Ready: Xsuite is FIPS 140-2 compliant and carries other important government certifications (Common Criteria EAL 4+, Unified Command Approved Products List UC/APL)

“The availability of Xsuite for VMware further enhances our ability to provide our customers with the flexibility, confidence and investment protection they need to adopt the IT architectures that best suit their business requirements,” said Glenn Hazard, Xceedium CEO. “Our team remains vigilant in developing the most innovative hybrid-cloud security solutions to ensure that our customers have a proven solution regardless of what type of security and privacy mandates are required.”
