CloudByte, the first
company to guarantee quality of service (QoS) to every application from a shared
storage platform, announced today the appointment of Greg Goelz as chief
executive officer. The former SanDisk Corporation executive brings more than 25
years of experience as a sales and marketing executive, with a successful track
record in building worldwide teams and strategic partnerships, as well as
growing revenues for data storage companies.
At SanDisk, Goelz was general manager of the Enterprise Storage Solutions
(ESS) business unit. He joined SanDisk via the Pliant Technology acquisition and
was instrumental in the sale and successful integration of Pliant's enterprise
solid state technology. While at SanDisk, he also led the acquisition and
integration of FlashSoft and Schooner Information Technology into ESS. Goelz has
held executive-level global sales and marketing positions at both startups and
Fortune 500 companies such as SGI, Iomega, and Conner
Peripherals.
Srivibhavan
Balaram, CloudByte founder and initial CEO, has successfully led CloudByte since
its inception in June 2011. Going forward, he will lead the company's Asia
Pacific (APJ) and European business operations as chief operations
officer.
"We are thrilled to have Greg on board to
accelerate CloudByte's adoption in the cloud service provider market," said
Balaram. "With an award-winning software-defined storage solution and
patent-pending storage QoS technology, CloudByte has been gaining rapid traction
in the market and Greg will be busy building and cultivating these new partner
and customer relationships. A hands-on industry executive, he brings to
CloudByte his experience in growing emerging tech companies, with a focus on the
enterprise storage market. We welcome Greg and we look forward to working with
him."
"CloudByte is at the
forefront of storage technology innovation in the cloud service provider (CSP)
market, enabling service providers to economically host performance-sensitive
enterprise applications and offer new services," said Goelz. "This is an
exciting opportunity and I am very impressed with CloudByte's storage
technology, its focus on the CSP market and the storage expertise of the team.
Being software-defined and software-only, CloudByte gives customers the
flexibility they need in their storage environments
. I am here to build on the early successes the company has
achieved, leveraging my industry relationships to help CloudByte
grow."
