CloudByte, the first company
to guarantee quality of service (QoS) to every application from a shared
storage platform, announced today the availability of a free perpetual
license for its full-featured storage software, ElastiStor. With the
free ElastiStor software, users can utilize up to 4 TB of data and
evaluate how ElastiStor makes it feasible to host performance-sensitive
enterprise applications in the cloud and easily deliver on-demand
storage performance. The ElastiStor software can be installed on various
industry-standard server hardware and storage devices, including SATA,
SAS, and SSD drives; it also supports various access protocols such as
NFS, CIFS, FC and iSCSI. CloudByte will provide email support to
potential customers taking advantage of this offer.
ElastiStor delivers storage provisioning as a service by automating
node selection and resource allocation based on an application’s
performance demands. The ElastiStor clusters with hundreds of
applications, spanning across multiple sites, can be managed from a
single web-based console. The console allows administrators to monitor,
manage, and control storage resource usage at application-level
granularity within shared storage, a capability not available today with
legacy storage architectures.
“I downloaded and installed ElastiStor into my lab environment and
found it to be flexible, scalable, resilient and easy to use,” said
Greg Schulz, StorageIO senior advisory analyst and vExpert. “I like the
extensibility and ability to scale without complexity, not to mention
the freedom to choose the mix of HDD, HHDD or SSD drives along with
server-side iSCSI, NFS, CIFS and Fibre Channel access. This makes for a
solution well suited to the needs of enterprises, hosting, managed and
cloud services providers. CloudByte has expanded the scope of hybrid
storage systems to be more than just HDDs and SSDs by including cloud
access with flexible deployment and configuration options for
performance, availability, capacity, energy and economics.”
“With this free software download, we would like to show our
potential customers and partners what ElastiStor can do for their
public and private cloud environments,” said Greg Goelz, CEO of
CloudByte. “All of the product’s features are available and our support
team will be ready to assist with any questions. Our product is
already in production in cloud service provider environments around the
world. Download the software and let us know what you think.”
