Moorfields Eye Hospital is working with Workspace Virtualization specialist RES
Software to significantly improve IT service delivery across the hospital's
central London campus.
Moorfields has
purchased the RES Workspace Virtualization Suite, which will give 1,800 users
instant access to their personal desktop, regardless of the device they are
using and their location within the hospital. This will significantly improve
access to the patient administration system, allowing clinical staff to more
quickly view and immediately update records while on ward rounds.
RES
Software's workspace virtualization technology will automatically determine what
IT services users can access, according to their context (user ID, location and
the device being used). This will deliver a consistent end-user desktop
experience, significantly reducing log-in times, improving application delivery
time and automating access to the nearest printer when users are away from their
desk.
The new
RES Software solution will also automate many IT services to minimize the time
required to support day-to-day IT tasks. This will reduce end-user helpdesk
requests and allow the IT team to dedicate more time to strategic IT projects
that improve hospital management and clinical services.
Owen
Brady, IT Director for Moorfields Eye Hospital, said: "Moorfields is an
ophthalmic centre of excellence worldwide, and it is therefore vital that our IT
services enable staff to continually improve patient services. We chose RES
Software as we wanted to reduce the burden on the IT department of day-to-day
system management. RES Software offers a single tool to simplify the delivery of
server and application management, which means that we won't have to deploy
multiple tools to achieve our goal of delivering reliable and cost effective IT
management."
