Austin Technology Council Announces Battle of the Tech Bands

The Austin Technology Council announced today they are hosting the Battle of the Bands on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 7 p.m. in partnership with Austin Music People (AMP). The battle will kick off the 3rd annual Austin Startup Week, a celebration of Austin's technology community.

The ATC Battle of the Bands will be held at the Mohawk and will feature musical acts from Austin's technology sector. "This is really a celebration of the two industries that drive our city: music and technology," said James Moody, member of the AMP executive committee and co-founder of Transmission Entertainment. "Any opportunity we have to collaborate and showcase our city's talent should be embraced."

This special fundraiser is open to the public and, in addition to featuring live music from some of the most talented techies in the city, will also have food, beer and special surprise guests. Anyone interested in participating should enter a short video of your band playing via Vine, YouTube, Twitter or Instagram along with the band's name and the hashtag #ATCbattle by October 1, 2013. All bands must feature at least one member from an ATC member company.

"The Battle of the Bands is where technology and music merge at a crossroads of cool," said Julie Huls, president of the Austin Technology Council. "This is an opportunity for Austin's technology companies to promote their cool culture as well as spend an evening among peers and friends."
