Amartus Announces Chameleon SDS as Part of Its Vision for Software-Defined Services

Amartus, a developer of automated service delivery software for network service providers, today announced its new software-defined service orchestration (SDS) solution, Chameleon SDS.

Borrowing a page from the software-defined networking (SDN) playbook, Chameleon SDS enables service providers to fully automate the delivery of dynamic, on-demand network services. Chameleon SDS automation is available today.

Network service providers are uniquely positioned to deliver ‘must have’ on-demand, guaranteed network services enterprises need in order to migrate business critical communication and IT applications to the cloud. However, their lack of service delivery automation represents a significant barrier because services take weeks to provision.

Chameleon SDS provides automation from a single unified platform. With Chameleon SDS, service providers can shorten time to design new services and can automate the provisioning and operation of those services so they can be turned up in a matter of minutes.

Cloud services demand is on the rise. Cisco, in its Global Index 2012, predicts that “by 2016, nearly two-thirds of all workloads will be processed in the cloud.” This adoption is driving demand for more on-demand, elastic network services, so that businesses can tailor the bandwidth or other service features as needed and pay only for what they use.

SDS orchestration allows carriers to automate all phases of the service delivery life-cycle including design, provisioning and operation. SDS orchestration also future-proofs their investment in automation to leverage software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) technologies in the service-delivery process.

“Carriers have focused on building out connectivity without the requisite investment in truly building out a service layer,” said Nancee Ruzicka, president of ICT Intuition. “Now the market is demanding responsive services and carriers are sensing new revenue opportunities from responding to cloud services. SDS is the right technology at the right time to pay off on the promise of an automated service layer.”

Chameleon SDS is built on Amartus’ unique, dynamic programmable Chameleon OS platform. Chameleon SDS delivers comprehensive service and network orchestration and a comprehensive RESTful API delivered on a single unified carrier-class platform.

Service features include service design, discovery, provisioning, inventory, assurance and OAM. Network features include network discovery, inventory, performance, fault and configuration. API features include support of open standards for easy integration with existing northbound systems, partner systems and network aware application.

With Amartus SDS, carriers can dynamically program new services into an existing OSS without the need for coding or re-architecting. The result is a dramatic reduction in new service rollout time from ‘months and years’ to ‘days.’

“Carriers’ business success is defined by service velocity, service differentiation and operational efficiency,” said Michael Kearns, president and CEO of Amartus. “Chameleon SDS is the one solution that addresses all three of these and enables service providers to quickly outpace the competition.”

Chameleon SDS is now available for trials or implementation. Contact Amartus’ sales team at for more information.
