VMware,
Inc., the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure,
today announced the appointment of Sanjay Poonen as executive vice president
and general manager of VMware's End-User Computing business unit. In this role,
Poonen is responsible for strategy, products, engineering and delivery across
all of VMware's end-user computing solutions.

success as we drive further growth in our end-user computing business," said

During
his 20-year career in the technology industry, Poonen has held a variety of
management roles in engineering, products, sales, marketing and business
development. Most recently, Poonen was president and corporate officer of
Platform Solutions and the Mobile Division at SAP AG. During his more than
seven years at SAP, Poonen held several executive-level roles in development
and sales. Poonen started SAP's analytics business in 2006, and led all of
SAP's platform solutions - analytics, database, big data and mobility - to
become a significant part of the company's revenue. During his tenure, he led
all of SAP's industry business units, helping many solutions achieve
industry-leading market positions.
Prior
to SAP, Poonen held executive roles at Symantec, VERITAS and Informatica, and
he began his career as a software engineer at Microsoft, followed by Apple.
Poonen holds two patents as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School, a
master's degree from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth
College.
