Virtualization Expert Shane Lowry Joins Instart Logic as VP of Engineering

Instart Logic, creators of the world's first Web Application Streaming Network, today announced the appointment of Shane Lowry as Vice President of Engineering, reporting to CEO Manav Mital. Lowry joins Instart Logic from VMware, where he most recently served as Director of Research and Development. Lowry will lead the fast-growing engineering team at Instart Logic and be responsible for product development, engineering operations and release management as the company scales to accommodate new customers and expand its global reach.

"Shane has exactly the drive, the clear mission, and the track record of delivering enterprise software products to the most demanding customers that our rapidly growing company requires," said Manav Mital, co-founder and CEO of Instart Logic. "As Shane builds up our engineering team, his deep expertise in virtualization will help us extend the capabilities and value of our platform."

At VMware, Lowry built and led a global team of more than 150 engineers during the company's growth from $1 billion to $5 billion in revenue and through its IPO. He was responsible for delivering virtualization solutions used by some of the world's largest enterprises.

"I joined Instart Logic for two reasons," said Lowry. "First, the phenomenal depth of knowledge and expertise possessed by the company's founding team and the strength of the technology they have built. Second, to work with a team that is solving hard problems and showing real leadership in pushing the boundaries of how the industry thinks about a space badly in need of disruption: web performance and content delivery."

Lowry has more than 15 years of engineering leadership experience. He was previously Director of Engineering at Akimbi, acquired in 2006 by VMware. At Akimbi he was responsible for the engineering design and implementation of the user interface of Slingshot, Akimibi's flagship product. Prior to Akimbi, he was Director of Applications and Web Development at Affinity Internet, a leading provider of Web hosting solutions, where he was responsible for developing powerful hosting and ecommerce applications used by more than 200,000 organizations worldwide. Before that he was Engineering Manager at Bigstep.com, a pioneering application service provider offering interactive eCommerce, hosting and Web site design services that allowed over 500,000 small businesses to offer store-fronts on the web.
