Netronome to Demonstrate Benchmarks for SDN and NFV Performance at Linley Tech Processor Conference

Netronome, the leading developer of flow processors, today announced that it will be presenting industry-leading benchmark results for software defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualizations (NFV) at the Linley Tech Processor Conference, held October 16-17, 2013 in Santa Clara, Calif.

“Flow processing is a basic requirement of software defined networking including standards such as OpenFlow,” said Bob Wheeler, senior analyst at The Linley Group. “Solutions that provide both silicon and software are seeing an uptick in demand as more equipment manufacturers design their products to be SDN-ready.”

During the conference, Netronome will showcase a complete OpenFlow 1.3.1 software solution on their NFP flow processors that demonstrates line-rate performance, setup rates beyond millions of flows per second, support for millions of simultaneous flows, SDN-controlled QoS and third party controllers. To accompany the demonstration, Rob Truesdell, product manager of software at Netronome, will host the session, “Comparative analysis of processors in SDN and NFV environments” at 3:05 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16.

“We are at a point in the evolution of SDN designs that the data center switching fabric has largely been addressed with basic packet switching solutions,” said Jarrod Siket, senior vice president of marketing at Netronome. “Flow processors such as our NFP-6xxx are ideally suited for the next set of challenges on the horizon, which include processing implications on security appliances, gateways and other networking middleboxes.”

The two-day conference focuses on processors for enterprise and carrier communications systems, including topics on security and high-performance memories for networking. Consisting of 27 technical presentations, the show will also feature a keynote session on technology and market trends in communications systems. For more information on the conference, please visit
