Spanning Cloud Apps Expands Backup and Recovery to Salesforce.com

Spanning Cloud Apps, Inc., the leading provider of data backup and recovery for cloud applications and creators of Spanning Backup for Google Apps, announces the expansion of its product offerings with the release of Spanning Backup for Salesforce. The new solution will debut at Dreamforce 2013 with the full release slated for the first quarter of 2014.

The new product offering for Salesforce.com, the world’s largest provider of customer relationship management (CRM) software, represents the first step in Spanning’s product line expansion plans to provide backup and recovery of critical data in the top cloud-based business applications.

“Spanning is focused on providing leading-edge backup and recovery solutions for the most significant cloud applications. As the titan of enterprise cloud computing apps, Salesforce is a logical next step for us,” said Jeff Erramouspe, CEO and president, Spanning. “Salesforce is storing unfathomably large amounts of critical data – our backup and recovery solution ensures organizations are now fully protected from data mishaps and losses.”

Spanning Backup for Salesforce will be the first and only backup solution embedded in the Salesforce user interface, allowing users to review their backup and recovery information in-app without ever having to leave Salesforce. Additionally, this unique integration with Salesforce allows Spanning Backup to share key backup and recovery activities directly into the Chatter newsfeeds.

“As organizations move core business functions to cloud applications like Salesforce, they are struggling to apply traditional backup and recovery methods, leading them to look for emerging solutions like Spanning Backup for Salesforce. We see independent data protection of cloud-based services as a critical component of any organization’s data protection strategy,” said George Crump, president and founder, Storage Switzerland, an analyst firm covering storage, cloud and virtualization markets.

Salesforce manages the critical corporate data, including customer details, sales, marketing and financials, for more than 100,000 organizations. With Spanning Backup for Salesforce providing automated daily backups, Salesforce customers now have a trusted, reliable and consistent way to protect critical data, files and customizations. Additionally, the new solution allows users to rapidly recover lost data from any previous backup. Key capabilities in Spanning Backup for Salesforce designed to reduce the administrative burden and cost of manually backing up critical CRM data include:

  • Automated daily backups: Improves backup reliability and reduces the time it takes administrators to manage the backup process.
  • Point-in-time data recovery: Simplifies the recovery of lost data making it easier to find previous versions of data.
  • Chatter feeds for backup activity: Allows administrators to follow key backup and recovery activities directly in Chatter newsfeeds.
  • Status and change visibility: Monitors and resolves backup errors with clear visibility into backup status and configuration changes.

“We trust Spanning to protect our critical Google Apps data and are thrilled to be working with them to expand that reliable protection to our Salesforce data,” said Jesse Brouillette, IT director, Rally Software, a leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for managing Agile software development.

Spanning will be hosting a webinar on Spanning Backup for Salesforce on Dec. 5. Interested attendees can register here.
