FSLogix Releases Apps 1.2 for Desktop Application Visibility

One of the really cool and interesting things about FSLogix Apps is that it can be part of your company's desktop solution whether you have traditional desktops, virtual desktops or cloud desktops!  Doesn't matter, it reaches across all these possibilities.  You aren't forced into one type of desktop environment -- providing your organization with choice.

FSLogix Apps provides what the company is calling "Dynamic Application Visibility," which means it enables policy-based control of when any application is visible to individual users or groups from a single golden image.  With FSLogix Apps, IT administrators realize the benefits of application virtualization for all Windows applications on physical, VDI and Citrix/RDS platforms.

The company is moving quickly since coming out of stealth mode at BriForum Chicago 2013.  And they just recently released version 1.2 which, in addition to improving upon an already great core with UI enhancements and customer recommended features, adds the ability to control the visibility of an application based upon location.  With this latest release, you can now control the visibility of an application based upon Active Directory container or Computer object.  For the Computer object, you can specify the Fully Distinguished Name or the Computer name (and use wildcards if you like).

This gives an administrator the flexibility to determine which applications are visible by location.  So, depending upon what device you are using, access to applications can easily be controlled without having to stream the application at runtime.  For instance, to give healthcare IT administrators another tool for compliance within a hospital, in the patient area one set of applications can be seen, and in the secure doctors office, a different set.  Or, restricting access to specific applications near an assembly line, or only allowing certain apps on a shared employee kiosk in the break area.

Sounds interesting, doesn't it?  The best part is -- FSLogix Apps is easy to evaluate.
