Ravello Systems, the industry’s first Cloud Application Hypervisor provider, today announced that it has partnered with Intrigo Systems, an SAP implementation organization. This partnership will bring ease and simplicity to enterprise SAP development and test processes. It will allow instant replicas of existing on-premise VMware-based SAP application environments to be deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other leading public clouds without making changes to the virtual machines (VMs) or networking.
Ravello Systems enables enterprises to instantly clone and deploy existing multi-VM applications in the public cloud. By adding a solution specifically for SAP landscapes, it is addressing a critical pain point for IT managers, DevOps practitioners, SAP architects, and VMware and SAP administrators who need rapid prototyping, development and testing of SAP business applications. The technology provides a way to save SAP blueprints and spin up these existing landscapes on AWS via self-service – resulting in the rapid prototyping of functionality, faster testing of upgrades and patches. The efficiency of having instant replicas of on-premise SAP landscapes creates new advantages including:
- Prototype projects – Introduce new Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) systems and test new functionalities.
- Sandboxes – Complete or partial landscapes can be created for a specific need and in turn can be easily discarded.
- Training – Create landscape replicas instantly for training and run them for only as long as needed.
- Upgrade Integration User Acceptance (UAT) testing – Upgrade one or multiple systems in the landscape to assess the implication before an upgrade project or new feature implementation.
“The increase in complexity of SAP environments requires strategic solutions that are both fast and efficient in order to support the pace of business innovation,” said Prabhakar Prasad, VP of global sales and marketing of Intrigo Systems. “For organizations to innovate rapidly, the public cloud is a promising platform. To reap its benefits, we saw the need for solutions that can provide an easy way to replicate the on-premise customer SAP landscapes onto the cloud. For this reason, Intrigo Systems partnered with Ravello Systems to come up with a self-service one-click clone and deployment methodology for existing SAP landscapes on the cloud. Customers can benefit by leveraging pay-as-you-go cloud infrastructure while allowing IT to focus on higher value tasks and business critical processes.”
“Amazon’s public cloud offers unique cost efficiencies and infinite resources for businesses, but even with these benefits, the complexities of migrating unique business applications to the cloud has driven up overall risks and costs for enterprises,” said Shruti Bhat, director product marketing, Ravello Systems. “Ravello’s technology addresses these concerns and our partnership with Intrigo now offers a way to leverage the resources of an AWS environment and spin up instant replicas of existing SAP landscapes that will ultimately reduce costs and free up time for IT.”
