TDIST Announces ALTO – A Portfolio of Teradici Powered PCoIP Zero Clients for Cloud-based Virtual Desktop and Workstation Environments

Embarking on a new era of zero client leadership, TDIST launches its ALTO family of Teradici PCoIP Zero Clients and PCoIP Remote Workstation Cards. This represents the leading edge of energy efficient, high performance desktop solutions in the virtualization and cloud space.

By offering the ALTO family, TDIST is branching out from solely being a distributor of VDI solutions to being an OEM vendor. This will widen access to devices suitable for cloud based virtual desktop environments.

ALTO Zero Client Family – The ALTO2321 and ALTO2140 dual and quad screen desktop units are designed to be used with cloud based virtual desktop environments such as VMware Horizon ViewTM as well as high-performance PCoIP Remote Workstations.

ALTO Workstation Host Cards – The ALTO2220 and ALTO2240 dual and quad screen PCoIP Remote Workstation Cards extend remote desktop working capability to those with high performance graphics needs such as those working in CAD, oil/gas exploration and film special effects. These cards allow the workstation to migrate to the managed datacenter connecting remotely to ALTO zero clients anywhere in the world via the PCoIP protocol.

“ With the ever changing world of visual effects, using the ALTO range of zero clients and workstation host cards we can significantly reduce deployment costs and production overheads for our clients in the Media Industry” said Richard McGuinness, Business Development Director at Escape Technology. “It allows our clients to centrally manage teams of artists without compromising the experience for both the creative and technical staff. Going forward we can see clients deploying this technology more and more.”

The ALTO product range is powered by Teradici PCoIP processor, allowing the user’s desktop operating system, applications and data to reside in the cloud, eliminating the need for traditional desktop workstations and PCs. The PCoIP protocol compresses, encrypts and encodes the entire computing experience at the datacenter and transmits it ‘pixels only’ across a standard IP network. This provides an uncompromized user experience from anywhere, over any network and any type of device, and removes many of the security risks associated with remote data storage on PCs, laptops and tablets.

Key benefits of Teradici PCoIP technology include:

  • Uncompromized user experience
  • Reduced costs
  • Increased agility and scalability
  • Best-in-class security
  • Simplified management
  • Increased organizational mobility
  • Availability

The first four ALTO products are available immediately and production orders are now being taken. For more information, visit http://www.altovdi.com
