VMware vExpert 2014 List Announced - Now at 754 Worldwide

VMware has announced this year’s VMware vExpert 2014 awards over at the official VMware VMTN blog.  And once again, I am proud and honored to be selected as a member of that prestigious group.  A special thank you to John Troyer (@jtroyer) and Corey Romero (@vCommunityGuy) for all of their efforts and hard work to make this program the huge success that it has become over the years.  You guys do a great job with this program and community, and the vExpert really is a shining example of how to do a community recognition program the right way.

If you aren't sure what the VMware vExpert program is all about (come on, you're reading and you haven't heard of this program yet?), it's a recognition or distinction for what individuals have done for the virtualization community-at-large in the prior year of the award.  That can include: blogging, writing books, sharing knowledge to the community (giving back), podcasting, speaking at events, webinars, working within the VMUG community, etc.  Basically, the honor is bestowed upon folks who take time out of their already busy lives to help spread the gospel about all things virtualization.  (CAN I GET AN AMEN!)

The initial program started back in 2009, and I was fortunate to be named a member of that original class of 300 lucky recipients.  This year, VMware has announced the largest group to date, 754 people have been added into the roles and ranks of the vExpert program.  And I'd like to welcome and congratulate each and every one of you to one of the best community groups around.  There are many individuals returning, but there are a lot of new faces being added to the program as well, bringing with them fresh ideas and new perspectives.

Here's a quote from the official announcement:

I’m pleased to announce the list 2014 vExperts. We have 754 vExperts this year, which is impressive! Each of these vExperts have demonstrated significant contributions to the community and a willingness to share their expertise with others. We were amazed to see so many applications for this years program... Congratulations to all the vExperts, new and returning. We’re looking forward to working with you this year.

If you missed out, don't worry.  VMware has opened up Q2 applications, so make sure to (re)apply -

Again, congratulations to all 2014 vExperts.
