New Sysload Release Enhances VMware Performance And Provides It Executives Big Picture Visibility

ORSYP, a leading provider of IT Operations Management solutions, today announced the availability of Sysload v5.7  . Major enhancements to VMware monitoring and new customizable dashboards provide IT executives with unique controls when managing complex virtualized environments.

VMware Monitoring

Tools that collect performance data in large VMware estates often saturate servers due to the volume of information captured. The result is errors and delays. They also introduce processing overheads because they require vCenter monitoring levels to be set high to capture the granularity of information needed. Sysload v5.7 uses highly optimized, multi-threading technology to collect ESX server, cluster and VM instance performance data in large vSphere datacenters. Without degrading end user service, VMware users get the centralized visibility they need when analyzing performance and capacity requirements.

Industry analysts observe a continued growth in enterprises adopting virtualization with large environments, presenting scalability and management challenges. According to a report written by Jean-Pierre Garbani, Forrester Research1, "Virtualization and Cloud create new complexities. Organizations that thought they could dispense with capacity management and planning by using virtualization or cloud computing must think again. Realize that the complexity of these technologies actually reinforces the need for a more sophisticated capacity planning and management process."

With 5.7, VMware users can centralize management of complex virtualized landscapes without adding to ownership costs incurred when using vCenter. They get actionable information identifying where capacity is under-utilized or not aligned to meet workload demands. Sysload offers unique VMWare performance insights alongside business applications and other hypervisor technologies including Hyper-V and IBM PowerVM. This helps IT analysts save time when troubleshooting problems and capacity planners when making budget optimization decisions.

Customizable DashboardsIncreasingly complex environments make it difficult for IT management to see what's going on. Standard performance reports lack crucial information. Business Intelligence tools can help but are expensive to use - both in terms of license costs as well as requiring developer time.

Sysload v5.7 introduces new customizable dashboards where tailored performance reports can be rapidly created using drag and drop visualization. Smart widgets and templates make it easy to present performance data from multiple sources using simple, meaningful displays, while dashboard objects linked to MS Office documents ensure that performance reports are dynamically refreshed. Sysload provides IT executives with the information needed to support decision making that will positively impact investment, people and time.

"Large virtualized datacenters present scalability challenges and are complex to manage," said Francois-Xavier Floren, Chief Executive Officer at ORSYP. "On the one hand, you want plenty of computing power to support end user services. On the other, you don't want capacity sitting idle. The bigger the system, the more difficult it is to see what is going on. Our users want simple views showing how systems are performing today and how well equipped they are for the future. With Sysload v5.7, they get this visibility in a format that is easy to understand -- allowing them to select the best options when making short and long-term infrastructure choices."
